OBITUARY
Ruth Eleanor Larsen of Regina, SK
passed into the presence of the Lord on
Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the age of 96
years. Ruth was born August 29, 1921 in
Hampton, New Brunswick. After leaving
high school in Grade 11, she attended
business college and worked as a stenographer
in St. John. She served as a Leading
Air Woman (LAW) in the RCAF in
base hospitals during WW II. Following
the war, Ruth completed her high school,
and then trained as an RN at St. John
General Hospital where she later worked
as a private duty nurse. Ruth then moved
to Winnipeg in 1958 to continue working
as a nurse. After three years she decided,
on a dare with her dear nursing friend
Enid, to respond to ads in the Western

ended up responding to an ad that Alice
Pearson (nee Larsen) had secretly place
on her brother’s behalf. This led to her
meeting and marrying, in 1961, the love
of her life, Arthur Larsen, who farmed
near Nokomis, SK.
After Arthur passed away in 1973,
Ruth remained on the farm where she
raised her daughters, Linda (Shane)
McLellan and Lisa (Rodney) Fairbrother,
who attended school in Govan. Ruth
and Arthur attended the Govan United
Church, and later Ruth attended Nokomis
Baptist Church. Ruth moved to
Regina from the family farm in 1991
after her health began to fail, and for the
past 13 years lived there with her daughter
Linda and
family.
Interment in
St. Olaf’s Pioneer
Cemetery
near Govan, SK
on Friday, June
15 at 10:00
AM, followed
by fellowship
gathering at
Govan Senior’s
Centre. A Memorial service will be held
at 2:30 PM at Heritage Alliance Church,
Regina, SK.

Ken and Ruth Edwards, who recently
moved to Regina, were back ‘home’ this
past weekend, taking in community
activities. Lorna (Mansell) Sigstad, of
Quill Lake, spent a couple of days in
Nokomis last week visiting her daughter
Gaylene and other friends.
A group of ten of us from Drake,
Lockwood, and Nokomis ventured over
to Danceland on Saturday night, May
26, to listen to, and dance to the great
music performed by The Decades. Jack
Robson, of Lanigan, plays in that band.
And, on Sunday evening, the 27th,
we enjoyed the entertainment at the
Nokomis Anglican Church. A group of
singers was in from Humboldt, including
Lydia Hasz. It was a very enjoyable
time.
