Did you have any superstitions before, during or after a meet? I never told myself I had to get a certain place (finish). I just try to go out and run my best. What’s one thing people don’t know about you? I represented the U.S. in an international board game tournament. The board game is called Go. That was in 2014. What’s one item on your bucket list? I really want to be able to swim 50 meters without stopping. I don’t know if I’ve ever done that before. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why? Taiwan. My family is originally from Taiwan and I have a lot of relatives there. I really want to see how much Taiwan has changed since I was there four years ago. What’s the best part about being a New Trier athlete? The community of other students and coaches. A lot of coaches teach at New Trier and it’s cool to see how their teaching philosophies transfer over. What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten and who is it from? Whenever I can, try to help other people. No matter how small it could be. My grandma told me that. If you could play another sport, what would it be and why? Ultimate frisbee because there’s a lot of running involved and it’s not as high contact as other sports. I really like frisbee. What’s been your 22ND CENTURY MEDIA FILE PHOTO favorite moment at New Trier? This year, when we were doing the Winter Carnival, our advisory was hosting an event for little kids and we all got to bond over it. If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why? I’d want to be able to be as fast as lightning, so I can go whenever, wherever. What’s your favorite restaurant? I really like this Japanese restaurant in Lincolnwood, Renga Tei.
