Thanks to help from area coaches and the eyes of 22nd Century Media staff, the best players were selected from six high schools — New Trier (NT), Loyola Academy (LA), Glenbrook North (GBN), Glenbrook South (GBS), Highland Park (HP) and Lake Forest High School (LF) — in our coverage area. FirST Team Second Team OUTSIDE HITTERS Joe Chamberlain, LF senior • 251 kills, .313 hitting percentage, 28 aces, 42 blocks, 98 digs; as an NSC All-Conference player, Chamberlain helped lead his team to a regional championship and was second to Lamp in kills on the team. OUTSIDE HITTER Kevin Lamp, LF junior • 402 kills, .399 hitting percentage, 61 aces, 47 blocks, 104 digs; Lamp, an all-around talent and NSC All-Conference player, earned himself a spot on Team 22 for the third consecutive season. OUTSIDE HITTER Drake Johnson, LA senior • 268 kills, .292 hitting percentage, 20 aces, 57 blocks; Johnson, a three-year varsity player for the Ramblers, was a dominate force in the Catholic League, and an All- Conference player. MIDDLE HITTER/BLOCKER James Snyder, NT senior • 133 kills, 71 blocks; the captain led the Trevians in blocks and earned a CSL All- Conference nod. Snyder was a key part of the team’s offense, helping New Trier wins its fifth consecutive sectional title. MIDDLE HITTER/BLOCKER Kyle Waggoner, LF senior • 103 kills, 68 blocks, 32 digs, 20 aces, .283 hitting percentage; the co-captain earned the NSC Sportsmanship of the Year Award and helped the Scouts secure a regional title against Warren. Jack Ferber, GBN senior • 178 kills, 3.3 kills per set, 15 aces, 5.2 receptions per set; the Spartan provided a stable offensive presence GBN needed to make it to the regional title game. MIDDLE HITTERS/BLOCKERS Zak Levy, HP senior • 155 kills, 13 aces, 19 solo blocks, 36 assisted blocks, 95.3 serve percentage; Levy earned a Team 22 nod for a second consecutive year. He was also a CSL All-Conference player and plans to make waves at North Central College. Joe D’Attomo, NT senior • 122 kills, .50 hitting percentage; a Loyola University-Chicago signee, D’Attomo helped the Trevians in a big way despite missing time with an injury early in the season. LIBERO Matthew Zhang, GBN senior • 253 digs, 4.8 digs per set, 95.8 serve percentage; a CSL All-Conference player, Zhang was a huge key to the Spartans’ success this season and provided senior leadership the young squad needed. SETTER Justin McCartney, LF junior • 767 assists, 32 blocks, 71 digs, 19 aces; McCartney helped keep the Scouts on track and in control on the court. He helped lead the team to an IHSA regional title while being an offensive and defensive threat. Honorable mention: Gerrit Holleman, HP senior S; Mike Roane, GBN senior MB; Ethan Brodell, GBN sophomore OH; Tim Lillig, GBN sophomore MB; Joe Masloski, GBS junior OH; Tucker Froelich, HP senior OH/L; Jay Saravis, NT junior OH; Jack Howard, LA junior OH; Nick Howard, LA senior MB; Ryan Merk, LA freshman L SETTER Thomas Cavallaro, GBS junior • 147 digs, 549 assists, 31 blocks, eight aces, 94.4 serve percentage; the CSL All-Conference honoree played a major role for the young Titans and will return as a big contributor next year. LIBERO Jacob Danneker, LF senior • 263 digs, 25 aces, 2.78 serve receive; Danneker was an NSC All- Conference honorable mention this season and helped dig the Scouts out of some tough situations.

Thanks to help from area coaches and the eyes of 22nd Century Media staff, the best players were selected from eight high schools — Glenbrook North (GBN), Glenbrook South (GBS), Highland Park (HP), Lake Forest (LF), Loyola Academy (LA), North Shore Country Day (NSCD), New Trier (NT) and Regina Dominican (RD) — in our coverage area. FirST Team Forward Makayla Stadler, GBS junior • 16 goals, 7 assists; Stadler earned another First Team honor in 2018. The IHSSCA awarded her All-State and All- Sectional honors and added a CSL All-Conference nod as well. MidFielder Ellie Flowers, GBS sophomore • 6 goals, 5 assists; The sophomore made quite the impression for the Titans and head coach Seong Ha. She earned CSL All-Conference honors. deFense Caroline Iserloth, NT senior • 2 goals, 4 assists; The senior completed her four-year varsity career by taking part in 85 shutouts during her Trevian career. Iserloth earned CSL All- Conference honors. Forward Maggie Brett, LA junior • 17 goals, 12 assists; The All-State selection used her speed to help her beat the competition. She continued to help lead Loyola to the sectional title game against New Trier. MidFielder Cate Schellenback, LA senior • 7 goals, 6 assists; The threeyear starter was a key part of the Ramblers’ attack and helped them to a sectional-final appearance. She will play at Middlebury College next season. deFense Riley Burns, LA senior • 1 goal, 3 assists; Burns finished her career with an IHSSCA All-Sectional honor. She will play for the University of Iowa next season. Forward Stephanie Ramsay, LA senior • 14 goals, 5 assists; Ramsay helped with Loyola’s strong offensive attack. She earned IHSSCA All-State honors and will play for Carnegie Mellon University. MidFielder Jolie Carl, HP junior • 14 goals, 7 assists; The Giants’ CSL All-Conference honoree led a strong offensive front. She’ll be a big returner for next year’s team as Highland Park tries to take the next step. Goalkeeper Meghan Dwyer, NT senior • 6 GA, .39 GAA; Dwyer continued in the legacy of elite New Trier goalkeepers. The CSL All-Conference honoree earned 9.5 shutouts during the season. MidFielder Nicole Kaspi, NT senior • 14 goals, 3 assists; Kaspi finished her four-year varsity stint by earning IHSSCA, All-Sectional and CSL All- Conference honors and heads to the University of Chicago. deFense Sydney Parker, NT senior • 15 goals, 3 assists; Parker earned All-American, IHSSCA All-State, All-Sectional, CSL All- Conference honors, was named the IHSSCA Player of the Year and will play for DePaul. Honorable mentions: Emily Charen, GBN senior F; Alyssa Nekrtiz, GBN junior F; Katie Weiss, GBS sophomore F; Libbie Vanderveen, GBS junior GK; Lauren Meier, GBS senior MF; Jessica Peter, GBS senior D; Sarah Stahlberger, HP junior MF; Sophia DiVagno, LF sophomore GK; Katie Bondoc, LF sophomore MF; Elise Stanley, LF sophomore MF; Camy Esplin, LF sophomore MF; Lilly Rausch, RD sophomore MF; Caroline Segal, NSCD sophomore D Second Team Forwards Edith Edwards-Mizel, NSCD sophomore • 18 goals, 13 assists; Edwards-Mizel lead the Raiders to a second-place IHSA finish and earned IHSSCA All- Sectional honors. Emma Weaver, NT sophomore • 11 goals, 15 assists; The two-year varsity player earned IHSSCA All-State, All-Sectional, CSL All-Conference honors. Samantha Cramin, GBN junior • 15 goals, 5 assists; The Spartan lead a GBN resurgence and earned an IHSSCA All-Sectional honor. MidFielders Grace Evans, GBS junior • 3 goals, 7 assists; The CSL All- Conference honoree is one of a large group of young talent returning in 2019. Emily Weil, NSCD junior • 9 goals, 4 assists; The junior was another reason for the NSCD success. Lily Conley, NT junior • 4 goals, 7 assists; Conley earned a CSL All-Conference nod and helped lead the Trevians to the title game. Allie Charnas, NSCD sophomore • 6 goals, 5 assists; Charnas will be a key player returning next season. deFense Katie Sullivan, GBS junior • 3 goals; The junior was an All- Sectional nominee and will be key for the Titans’ back line next season. Leland Keller, LF junior • .71 goals per game. The defender helped LF reduce its goals against average by more than 20 percent. Emily Porta, GBN senior • 2 goals, 1 assist; Porta gave GBN a veteran presence on the back line. Goalkeeper Maggie Avery, LA senior • .67 GAA, 10 shutouts. Avery earned an All-State honor in her fourth varsity season.
