Superstition Grand Antique Mall Opens in New Mesa Location
Superstition Grand Antique Mall moved to Mesa
this past summer after being in business for 17 years at
the historic Grand Hotel complex in Apache Junction. The
‘Grand Antique Mall’ was one of the first malls to open in
Arizona.
The current Mall has over 90 vendors from across Arizona
and the country. The new location at 7536 E. Main
Street occupies over 12,000 square feet in Sun Valley Plaza
at the northwest corner of Sossaman and Main.
Although they were sorry to leave their former historic
building, mall owners
Craig and Irmgard
Handel are very
excited about their
new site in Mesa.
They feel it is much
closer in town and
their customer base
has expanded as a
result. In the meantime,
the Grand Hotel has been demolished pending a redevelopment
program.
Craig and Irmgard have owned the Mall since 2002
after being on ‘the other side’ as collectors and vendors.
Their number one goal is to satisfy their vendors because,

as Craig says, “Without them you don’t have the customers.”
He adds, “We have a loyal customer base with both
collectors and dealers and approximately 25% of our sales
are to dealers.”
Superstition Grand Antique Mall has a great variety
of antiques featuring everything from western items, jewelry,
turquoise, glass, pottery, historical paper, political,
toys to antique furniture. Known for its diverse vendors
and long time friendly staff, it was selected the ‘Best Antique
Mall’ both in 1996 and as recently as 2005 in the
annual New Times ‘Best of Phoenix’ issue.
The Mall features a Monthly Storewide Sale held on
the 2nd Sunday throughout the year. Also, from November
through March, there is a Parking Lot Sale from 7:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. held in
conjunction with the 2nd
Sunday sale. Craig suggests
customers come
early for the great buys!
This new location is
easily reached via the new
202 Hwy in the east valley
metro area. Mall hours
are 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. seven days a week. For information
