Tommy Kocenko, Lincoln-Way
Central graduate
Tommy Kocenko was picked as this week’s
Standout Student because of his academic
performance.
What is one essential you must have when
studying?
When I study, I always need music and
food. It helps me get my mind right, and I
always get the most done with those things.
What do you like to do when not in school or
studying?
In my free time, I like to hang out with my
girlfriend or my friends. I also play Xbox a
lot, usually Fortnite.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to either own my own
business or invest into small businesses and
build them into empires.
What is one thing most people don’t know
about you?
I hate phones. I would have loved to experience
the time before social media and
phones.
Whom do you look up to and why?
I look up to my parents and my coaches.
My parents do so much for me and are willing
to give things up for my sister and me.
They work unbelievably hard to get us little
things we don’t even need. I hope I grow up
to be like them. I look up to all my coaches
because they are great people, and they have
helped and continue to help me build into a
good man.
What’s your favorite class?
My favorite class is business. I’ve watched
a lot of interesting movies, and it teaches me
practical stuff that I may need in my future
career.
What’s one thing that stands out about your
school?
One thing that is amazing about Lincoln-

Way Central is the people. There are so many
genuine people who want to help you succeed.
They also love to celebrate your success.
It’s helped me grow as an individual,
and I’m glad I had the opportunity to go here.
What extracurricular do you wish your
school had?
I wish my school had a spring football
league. I miss Friday night lights so much.
If you could change one thing about school,
what would it be?
If I could change one thing, I would
change when it starts. Delayed starts are so
nice, and I feel like school would be easier,
and I would be more ready for the day if
school started later.
What’s your best memory from school?
My best memory from school are football
and Friday night lights. The best feeling is
making a play or watching a big play, and the
home crowd going crazy. Nothing could ever
match that feeling.
