newlenoxpatriot.com news the New Lenox Patriot | June 21, 2018 | 9 Police Reports Multiple thefts, burglaries take place at New Lenox stores There were six separate incidents of theft or burglary that occurred between June 4-11 across New Lenox stores. Most recently, on June 11, a vacuum cleaner valued at around $600 reportedly was stolen from Lowe’s at the 2400 block of East Lincoln Highway. On June 10, an unknown person entered into Hair Cuttery after hours on the 400 block of Nelson Road, but nothing was stolen at the time. It could be related to an incident that occurred two days prior, on June 8, when an unknown person entered Hair Cuttery after hours and stole cash and a surveillance camera. On June 9, Richard L. Bauer, 60, of 1424 Pioneer Road, Apt. #9, in Crest Hill, was charged with retail theft at Jewel on the 400 block of Nelson Road after he allegedly stole $478 worth of food and liquor from the store and fled. Police said it stopped a vehicle nearby matching the description given by Jewel staff and were able to arrest Bauer. On June 8, Zarriya S. Lowe, 20, of 356 Wheatfield Road in Matteson, was charged with retail theft at Target on the 2300 block of East Lincoln Highway after she allegedly pre-loaded $150 in Target gift cards for personal use without paying for them. On June 4, two car batteries reportedly were stolen New Lenox woman found passed out behind wheel Police said it found heroin, meth ‘in plain view’ during arrest James Sanchez, Editor A New Lenox woman received multiple charges June 10 after she was found unresponsive due to drugs in her parked vehicle with her 3-year-old daughter in the backseat, according to the New Lenox Police Department. Carly A. Dominski, 37, of 268 Circlegate Road in New Lenox, was charged with possession of controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine and endangering the life/health of a child after police reportedly located Dominski at the Walmart parking lot, on the 500 block of East Lincoln Highway, passed out behind the wheel of her parked vehicle, leaving her daughter unattended. As officers entered the unlocked vehicle, Dominski woke up, and she was later treated by the New Lenox Fire Protection District, Deputy Chief Lou Alessandrini said. Police reportedly found methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle, he added. The child was then taken into protective custody, and Dominski was transported to the New Lenox Police Department, police said. The Department of Children and Family Services was contacted, and the child was turned over to the child’s father pending further investigation, police said. from Franken Equipment on the 2300 block East Washington Street. June 11 • A bird feeder reportedly was stolen from a yard at a residence on the 800 block of Cooper Street and was thrown through a window of a vehicle parked on the driveway. June 10 • A Walmart employee reportedly was punched in the face by another co-worker during a break period. June 8 • A New Lenox resident’s checking information reportedly was stolen and used to cash a fraudulent check. Mokena man allegedly punches cop while high on acid James Sanchez, Editor A Mokena man allegedly punched a police officer in the face June 11 while he was high on drugs. Scott M. Ray, 19, of 19520 Midland Ave. in Mokena, called the New Lenox Police Department asking for help because he was having a bad reaction after he used acid, Deputy Chief Lou Alessandrini said. Police was able to locate Ray near Woodland Avenue and Southgate Road. As a responding officer arrived, Ray reportedly ran toward and grabbed the officer asking for help. As the officer was trying to get more information, Ray started reaching for the squad car’s driver door and asked to drive the vehicle, Alessandrini said. After being told no, Ray started punching the car, and as the officer tried to get him to stop, Ray turned and punched the officer in the face, Alessandrini said. The officer ordered Ray to get on the ground, and he complied and was taken to Silver Cross Hospital to be evaluated, Alessandrini added. He was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer the following day. June 7 • A New Lenox resident’s credit card information reportedly was stolen and used to charge several thousands of dollars worth of gasoline onto the account. June 6 • An unknown person reportedly entered two vehicles parked on a driveway on the 1000 block of Sanctuary Drive, but nothing was appeared stolen. • A New Lenox resident’s banking information reportedly was stolen and used to make fraudulent payments. June 4 • A New Lenox resident’s personal information reportedly was stolen and used to make a fraudulent purchase on Amazon. The person also indicated that one of her social media accounts was hacked. • A hubcap reportedly was stolen from a vehicle as it was parked at a residence on the 600 block of Wellington Parkway overnight. • A New Lenox resident’s personal information reportedly was stolen and used to open a fraudulent Comcast account.
