more a professional musician even more so than Bob. He actually
played more than one instrument and the main reason he was chosen
to be a part of the group was for the musical skills that he possessed,
this created a division among the true brothers which was wrong .
For example “U2” remained a group on ‘Island Label’ even though Bono
was the front man, Chris Blackwell did not say Bono and the U2, so
the Wailers could have remained ‘The Wailers’ like the Mighty Diamonds
remained the ‘Mighty Diamonds’ or the Heptones, the Eagles,
Abba or the Rolling Stone, not Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stone, I
personally do not think Keith would have liked that. So then, why was it
changed from ‘The Wailers’ to ‘Bob Marley and the Wailers’ Bob himself
was not in agreement with that but Island Records and it’s Marketing
team convinced him to go with the flow. As in one of Bob’s
speech where he clearly stated quote– “now the Group is the
‘Wailers’ but for some strange reason they say Bob Marley and the
Wailers, I didn't tell no one to say so but they did ...but check this…. I
man is a Wailer and I am gonna play music until what wants to happen.
..happens you know” ! ..
The Wailers were the small axe who built their love on one Foundation,
so for Chris Blackwell to single out Bob because of the color of his
skin and being the son of a white English Jamaican man like himself
says a lot of which Bob himself did not like those gestures at all. Bob
loved all people equally and would be the first to tell you that “you
cannot segregate the people because they do not have four feet” why
would the label would want to do that?”, he finally realized what was
happening and gave Bunny a call from Germany telling him to prepare
for a Wailers re-union with him and Peter Tosh. Knowing Bunny, the
man with foreseeable eyes said to his brother and partner in TUFF
GONG Records. Ltd…. “don't let them hear you say that, cause you may
