Independence Day celebrations you don’t want to miss<br />

Independence Day is right around<br />

the corner and there are many ways the<br />

community is celebrating the birth of the<br />

nation. From three-day-long music festivals<br />

to parades to fun runs, the following<br />

community events offer something for<br />

every member of the family to enjoy.<br />

O’FALLON<br />

Delmar Gardens<br />

The Delmar Gardens Family hosts its<br />

annual Independence Day celebration<br />

at Delmar Gardens O’Fallon/Garden<br />

Villas of O’Fallon Campus at 7 p.m.<br />

on Sunday, July 1. The evening will<br />

include live music, clowns, inflatables,<br />

games and prizes. Concessions such as<br />

hot dogs, nachos, soda and ice cream<br />

will be available to guests throughout<br />

the night. Parking is available at Twin<br />

Chimneys Elementary. A shuttle begins<br />

at 6:30 to transport guests to Delmar<br />

Gardens. Additional parking is available<br />

at Dardenne Presbyterian Church. Call<br />

Firecracker Run<br />

The O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce’s<br />

34th annual Firecracker Run is at 7 a.m.<br />

[6 a.m. registration] on Wednesday, July<br />

4 at CarShield Field, 900 T.R. Hughes<br />

Blvd. The event consists of a 10K, 5K and<br />

a 1-mile fun run. Register online at ofallonchamber.org,<br />

or stop by the O’Fallon<br />

Chamber office at 2145 Bryan Valley<br />

Commercial Drive in O’Fallon. Registration<br />

costs $35 through July 3; $40 on race<br />

day for the 5K and 10K races. Registration<br />

for the 1-mile race is $20 through July 3;<br />

$25 on race day. Parking is available at<br />

Christian High, 1145 Tom Ginnever Ave.,<br />

and Fort Zumwalt North High, 1230 Tom<br />

ST. CHARLES<br />

Fontier Park<br />

Historic St. Charles’ Riverfest 20<strong>18</strong> is<br />

from July 3-4 in Frontier Park off of South<br />

<strong>Rivers</strong>ide Drive. The celebration includes<br />

live music, a carnival, food and craft vendors<br />

and a firework display. Festival hours<br />

are 5-10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3. On<br />

July 4, the day begins with a parade at 10<br />

a.m. and continues with a full day of festivities<br />

from noon-10:30 p.m. Fireworks<br />

on July 4 begin at 9:20 p.m. Don’t miss<br />

Bryne & Kelly from 8:30-10 p.m. on July 3<br />

and Platinum Rock Legends from 8:30-10<br />

WELDON SPRING<br />

City Hall Park<br />

The city of Weldon Spring hosts its<br />

Independence Day Celebration from 5:30-<br />

10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4 at 5401<br />

Independence Road. Attendees can look<br />

forward to inflatables/bounce houses for<br />

the kids, balloon sculptures, face painting<br />

and a magic show. Enjoy live music by the<br />

Social Distraction band. Cindy’s Petting<br />

Zoo also will be at the event. Admission<br />

is free, and food vendors will be on-hand<br />

selling festival cuisine. Attendees are<br />

reminded to bring a blanket and/or lawn<br />

chairs to view the city’s fireworks display.<br />

WENTZVILLE<br />

July 4th Parade<br />

Wentzville’s July 4th Parade & Liberty<br />

Fest spans from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on<br />

Wednesday, July 4. The parade begins at<br />

10 a.m. at Holt High, 600 Campus Drive<br />

in Wentzville, travels east on Pearce Boulevard<br />

and ends at Luektenhaus Boulevard.<br />

All are invited to participate in the parade<br />

by making or designing a float; this year’s<br />

theme is Celebrating the American Dream.<br />

Floats will be judged for Mayor’s Choice<br />

for first and second place; Best Musical<br />

Entry for first and second place; and<br />

Overall Winners for first, second and third<br />

places. Float registration is required. For<br />

more information, call the Parks and Recreation<br />

Progress Park<br />

Following the parade, free activities<br />

will be held at Progress Park including a<br />

free swim from noon-5 p.m., inflatables,<br />

ultimate bungee, rock climbing wall, stilt<br />

walker and crafts from 5-8:45 p.m.; live<br />

music by the band Hollywood 5 from 6-9<br />

p.m.; followed by fireworks at 9:05 p.m.<br />
