Independence Day celebrations you don’t want to miss

Independence Day is right around
the corner and there are many ways the
community is celebrating the birth of the
nation. From three-day-long music festivals
to parades to fun runs, the following
community events offer something for
every member of the family to enjoy.
O’FALLON
Delmar Gardens
The Delmar Gardens Family hosts its
annual Independence Day celebration
at Delmar Gardens O’Fallon/Garden
Villas of O’Fallon Campus at 7 p.m.
on Sunday, July 1. The evening will
include live music, clowns, inflatables,
games and prizes. Concessions such as
hot dogs, nachos, soda and ice cream
will be available to guests throughout
the night. Parking is available at Twin
Chimneys Elementary. A shuttle begins
at 6:30 to transport guests to Delmar
Gardens. Additional parking is available
at Dardenne Presbyterian Church. Call

Firecracker Run
The O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce’s
34th annual Firecracker Run is at 7 a.m.
[6 a.m. registration] on Wednesday, July
4 at CarShield Field, 900 T.R. Hughes
Blvd. The event consists of a 10K, 5K and
a 1-mile fun run. Register online at ofallonchamber.org,
or stop by the O’Fallon
Chamber office at 2145 Bryan Valley
Commercial Drive in O’Fallon. Registration
costs $35 through July 3; $40 on race
day for the 5K and 10K races. Registration
for the 1-mile race is $20 through July 3;
$25 on race day. Parking is available at
Christian High, 1145 Tom Ginnever Ave.,
and Fort Zumwalt North High, 1230 Tom

ST. CHARLES
Fontier Park
Historic St. Charles’ Riverfest 2018 is
from July 3-4 in Frontier Park off of South
Riverside Drive. The celebration includes
live music, a carnival, food and craft vendors
and a firework display. Festival hours
are 5-10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3. On

July 4, the day begins with a parade at 10
a.m. and continues with a full day of festivities
from noon-10:30 p.m. Fireworks
on July 4 begin at 9:20 p.m. Don’t miss
Bryne & Kelly from 8:30-10 p.m. on July 3
and Platinum Rock Legends from 8:30-10

WELDON SPRING
City Hall Park
The city of Weldon Spring hosts its
Independence Day Celebration from 5:30-
10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4 at 5401
Independence Road. Attendees can look
forward to inflatables/bounce houses for
the kids, balloon sculptures, face painting
and a magic show. Enjoy live music by the
Social Distraction band. Cindy’s Petting
Zoo also will be at the event. Admission
is free, and food vendors will be on-hand
selling festival cuisine. Attendees are
reminded to bring a blanket and/or lawn
chairs to view the city’s fireworks display.

WENTZVILLE
July 4th Parade
Wentzville’s July 4th Parade & Liberty
Fest spans from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on
Wednesday, July 4. The parade begins at
10 a.m. at Holt High, 600 Campus Drive
in Wentzville, travels east on Pearce Boulevard
and ends at Luektenhaus Boulevard.
All are invited to participate in the parade
by making or designing a float; this year’s
theme is Celebrating the American Dream.
Floats will be judged for Mayor’s Choice
for first and second place; Best Musical
Entry for first and second place; and
Overall Winners for first, second and third
places. Float registration is required. For

Progress Park
Following the parade, free activities
will be held at Progress Park including a
free swim from noon-5 p.m., inflatables,
ultimate bungee, rock climbing wall, stilt
walker and crafts from 5-8:45 p.m.; live
music by the band Hollywood 5 from 6-9
p.m.; followed by fireworks at 9:05 p.m.
