Indian Lake has over 100 miles of hiking trails for most ages<br />
and abilities. Hike the <strong>Adirondack</strong>s the Indian Lake Way with our<br />
4-3-2-1 Challenge! Select 10 hikes and receive a custom made<br />
badge when you complete them all. Stop at the Indian Lake<br />
Chamber of Commerce information building on Main\ Street to<br />
get your 4-3-2-1 Challenge form and hiking map.<br />
QUEEN OF HIKES<br />
OK Slip Falls is the new Queen of all hikes, being one of the<br />
highest waterfalls in the <strong>Adirondack</strong>s. The parking area for OK<br />
Slip Falls located almost 8 miles east of downtown Indian Lake<br />
on Route 28. Hiking round trip is 6.4 miles. You should allow at<br />
least a half-day for this hike, especially if you want to linger at<br />
the falls viewing area or spend time taking lots of pictures along<br />
the way.<br />
SNOWMOBLING<br />
Indian Lake forms the hub of <strong>Adirondack</strong> snowmobiling with<br />
access to over 1000 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Our central<br />
location makes Indian Lake an ideal place to start and finish<br />
your snowmobiling adventure. Abundant snowfall often gives us<br />
a long snowmobiling season from December well into March. Accurate<br />
and honest snowmobile trail condition reports are always<br />
available at www.ilsnow.com<br />
LAKES, PONDS AND RIVERS<br />
Our region is speckled with dozens of lakes, ponds and rivers<br />
that offer scenic fishing, kayaking and canoeing opportunities. Indian<br />
Lake is well known as the White Water Capital of New York<br />
State, with timed water releases from Lake Abanakee to ensure<br />
quality rafting from spring to autumn. Power boating can be enjoyed<br />
on Blue Mountain Lake and Indian Lake.<br />
CABINS, COTTAGES AND CAMPSITES:<br />
Indian Lake has quaint cottages and cabins with real <strong>Adirondack</strong><br />
charm that people have stayed at for generations. Many of<br />
them are on the lake or have scenic mountain views. You can find<br />
them at www-indian-lake.com. We are also the home of three<br />
New York State Public Campgrounds at Lake Durant, Lewey<br />
Lake and Indian Lake Islands.<br />
Now you and your family can enjoy the scenic hikes in and<br />
around the Indian Lake area. Select 10 hikes and receive a<br />
custom-made badge when you complete them all – representing<br />
the Indian Lake Challenge – the 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 Way. Using<br />
the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce Hiking Map, select and<br />
hike 4 Easy trails (green), 3 Moderate trails (yellow), 2 Difficult<br />
trails (red) and (1) Either Snowy Mountain or Blue Mountain.<br />
Document your accomplishments by submitting this document<br />
along with a photo of yourself with the appropriate destination.<br />
Present your completed form and photos along with $5 fee to cover<br />
costs at the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce office, located<br />
at 6301 NYS Route 30, to receive your Challenge Badge. (Please<br />
note: There is no deadline to complete the Indian Lake 4-3-2-1.<br />
lndian Lake has a lot of great mountain hikes to choose<br />
from: Blue Mountain, Snowy Mountain, Wakely Mountain,<br />
Baldface Mountain and Chimney Mountain are the more popular<br />
