During this month the Virginia Peninsula Association
of REALTORS® held a new member
indoctrination for thirty new REALTORS®,
conducted a number of training sessions
including Lunch and Learns. I encourage you
to participate in the activities of your Association.

On June 22, 2018, I had an opportunity to
attend Governor Northam’s bill signing of
HB1138. This bill establishes the Office of the
Qualified Education Loan Ombudsmen. The
bill was sponsored by Delegate Marcia Price.
Our REALTORS® Association supported this
bill because of our concern for how excessive
student loan debt can prevent persons from
qualifying for home mortgages. The Ombudsmen
position will be established July 1st,
2018.
We had a great time at the VPAR Social held at
the Crab Shack, special thanks to the Member
Relations Committee for planning and implementing
the event. Also thanks to Johnson
Mortgage for sponsoring the social.
Our VPAR Committees are working hard to
provide informative, educational and interactive
training experiences for you. This month
VPAR Public Policy Committee arranged for
the new Newport News- Williamsburg Regional
Airport Director to update our association
on the performance and visionary plans
for the future of the airport. The Director's
presentation was well received by our membership.
