Presidents Message By Carl Burt, 2018 President friends. Hello everyone I trust each of you are enjoying your summer. This is one of my favorite times of the year, weather is warm/hot and the days are longer. I hope you have an opportunity to vacation and spend time with your families and During this month the Virginia Peninsula Association of REALTORS® held a new member indoctrination for thirty new REALTORS®, conducted a number of training sessions including Lunch and Learns. I encourage you to participate in the activities of your Association. audio visual equipment were purchased and installed. The second floor classroom is now available for VPAR membership use and contractual use by others. If you're in the area stop by the VPAR Office for a quick tour and see your membership funds at work. On June 22, 2018, I had an opportunity to attend Governor Northam’s bill signing of HB1138. This bill establishes the Office of the Qualified Education Loan Ombudsmen. The bill was sponsored by Delegate Marcia Price. Our REALTORS® Association supported this bill because of our concern for how excessive student loan debt can prevent persons from qualifying for home mortgages. The Ombudsmen position will be established July 1st, 2018. We had a great time at the VPAR Social held at the Crab Shack, special thanks to the Member Relations Committee for planning and implementing the event. Also thanks to Johnson Mortgage for sponsoring the social. Our VPAR Committees are working hard to provide informative, educational and interactive training experiences for you. This month VPAR Public Policy Committee arranged for the new Newport News- Williamsburg Regional Airport Director to update our association on the performance and visionary plans for the future of the airport. Presidents Message By Carl Burt, 2018 President During our June VPAR Board Meeting I presented the nominating committee for 2019 VPAR Board openings. The VPAR Board approved the nominating committee. I would suggest persons that are thinking about running for the VPAR Board prepare themselves. The 2019 Nominating Committee Chair is Chandra Patterson, you will be hearing more about the application process in the near future.
