WMA Schedules Waterfowl, Snipe, Rail and Gallinules: Same as outside except closed after 2 p.m. and EXCEPT CLOSED Oct. 29-30, Nov. 25-27 and Dec. 2-4, and EXCEPT hunting after 2 p.m. prohibited EXCEPT no hunting in Waterfowl Refuge. That portion of Sherburne WMA known as the South Farm restricted to Lottery hunts only. South Farm waterfowl hunting limited to one hunt per calendar week per person. All other hunting closed on South Farm complex from the Friday before Youth Lottery Deer Hunt until the day after the last waterfowl hunt on the South Farm. Contact the Opelousas Field Office for details and description of “South Farm.” • Youth Waterfowl Lottery: Contact the Opelousas Field Office for details and applications. • Disabled Veterans Waterfowl Lottery: Contact the Opelousas Field Office for details and applications. Small Game: Same as outside EXCEPT CLOSED Oct. 29-30, Nov. 25-27 and Dec. 2-4, and EXCEPT spring squirrel season will be open May 6-14 only, with or without dogs. Beagles allowed for rabbits and dogs allowed for squirrel hunting Jan. 16 - Feb. 28. On that portion designated as Small Game Emphasis Area, beagles are allowed for rabbit and dogs are allowed for squirrel Oct. 1-31, EXCEPT closed Oct. 29-30, and training of beagles for rabbit and dogs for squirrel allowed June 1 - Aug. 31. Non-toxic shot only within waterfowl impoundments. • Youth Squirrel Hunt: Sept. 24-25 (see page 60-61). Quail: CLOSED Raccoon (nighttime): Sept. 10-25 and Jan. 16 - Feb. 28 Crawfishing: March 15 - July 31. Crawfish harvest limited to 100 lbs per person per day. No traps or nets left overnight. No motorized water craft allowed on farm complexes. Soda Lake Owner: Caddo Levee District (1,300 acres); U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (1,200 Acres, Minden Office) Motorized vehicles allowed on designated trails. Bicycles allowed. Vehicle parking allowed only in designated parking areas. That portion west of Twelve Mile Bayou closed to fishing Oct. 1 - March 31. Deer Archery (either-sex): Oct. 1 - Jan. 31 Small Game and Waterfowl: • Portion West of Twelve Mile Bayou: FALCONRY ONLY, same as outside, and open to squirrel hunting during the spring season, May 6-14. • Portion East of Twelve Mile Bayou: Same as outside for squirrel and rabbit, and OPEN to squirrel hunting during the spring season, May 6-14, with or without dogs. WMA Schedules Spring Bayou Owner: LDWF (12,506 acres, Opelousas Office) No hunting allowed in Headquarters area. Only overnight campers allowed in the improved Boggy Bayou Camping area. Rules and Regulations posted at campsite. A fee is assessed for use of this campsite. Water skiing prohibited EXCEPT allowed in Old River and Grand Lac. Area Closed: Oct. 29-30 to all hunters EXCEPT Youth Hunters. Deer Archery (bucks only): Oct. 1-15 Deer Archery (either-sex): Oct. 16 - Feb. 15 Deer Youth (either-sex): Oct. 29-30 Deer Firearms (either-sex): Nov. 25-27, self-clearing permit. Deer Firearms (bucks only): Dec. 24 - Jan. 8 Deer Primitive Firearms (either-sex): Jan. 9-15 Deer Firearms (Experimental Quality Deer Season - bucks only): Jan. 25-31 (see restrictions on page 64). Turkey Youth Lottery: April 8-9. Hunting by pre-application lottery only. Contact the Opelousas Field Office for details. Raccoon (nighttime): Sept. 10-25 and Jan. 16 - Feb. 28 Recreational Fishing: Same as outside EXCEPT only allowed after 2 p.m. during waterfowl season. • Crawfish: March 15 - July 31. Recreational only, 100 lbs per person per day. Commercial Fishing: Permitted Monday through Friday EXCEPT slat traps and hoop nets permitted any day, and except gill or trammel nets or the take or possession of grass carp are prohibited.
