Spring Bayou<br />

Owner: LDWF (12,506 acres, Opelousas Office)<br />

No hunting allowed in Headquarters area. Only overnight campers allowed in the improved<br />

Boggy Bayou Camping area. Rules and <strong>Regulations</strong> posted at campsite. A fee is<br />

assessed for use of this campsite. Water skiing prohibited EXCEPT allowed in Old River<br />

and Grand Lac.<br />

Area Closed: Oct. 29-30 to all hunters EXCEPT Youth Hunters.<br />

Deer Archery (bucks only): Oct. 1-15<br />

Deer Archery (either-sex): Oct. 16 - Feb. 15<br />

Deer Youth (either-sex): Oct. 29-30<br />

Deer Firearms (either-sex): Nov. 25-27, self-clearing permit.<br />

Deer Firearms (bucks only): Dec. 24 - Jan. 8<br />

Deer Primitive Firearms (either-sex): Jan. 9-15<br />

Deer Firearms (Experimental Quality Deer Season - bucks only): Jan. 25-31 (see restrictions<br />

on page 64).<br />

Turkey Youth Lottery: April 8-9. <strong>Hunting</strong> by pre-application lottery only. Contact the<br />

Opelousas Field Office for details.<br />

Small Game and Waterfowl: Same as outside except waterfowl closed after 2<br />

p.m. and EXCEPT SMALL GAME CLOSED Oct. 29-30 and Nov. 25-27, and open to<br />

squirrel hunting during the spring season, May 6-14, with or without dogs. Beagles<br />

allowed for rabbits and dogs allowed for squirrel hunting Jan. 16 - Feb. 28.<br />

WATERFOWL to remain open during either sex firearms hunts for deer.<br />

• Youth Squirrel Hunt: Sept. 24-25 (see page 60-61).<br />

Raccoon (nighttime): Sept. 10-25 and Jan. 16 - Feb. 28<br />

Recreational Fishing: Same as outside EXCEPT only allowed after 2 p.m. during waterfowl<br />

season.<br />

• Crawfish: March 15 - July 31. Recreational only, 100 lbs per person per day.<br />

Commercial Fishing: Permitted Monday through Friday EXCEPT slat traps and hoop nets<br />

permitted any day, and except gill or trammel nets or the take or possession of grass<br />

carp are prohibited. Permits available from the Opelousas Field Office. CLOSED until<br />

after 2 p.m. during waterfowl season.<br />
