Wildlife Management Areas<br />
allowed via permit only, in designated<br />
areas, during hunting season. Permits<br />
for Atchafalaya Delta WMA are available<br />
via annual lottery or by a 5-year bid<br />
lease program. Contact the New Iberia<br />
Field Office for details.<br />
• Discharge of human waste onto lands<br />
or waters of any WMA is prohibited. In<br />
the event public restroom facilities are<br />
not available at a WMA, the following is<br />
required: anyone camping on a WMA in<br />
a camper, trailer or other unit (other<br />
than a houseboat or tent) shall have<br />
and shall utilize an operational disposal<br />
system attached to the unit; tent campers<br />
shall have and shall utilize portable<br />
waste disposal units and shall remove<br />
all human waste from the WMA upon<br />
leaving; houseboats moored on a WMA<br />
shall have a permit or letter of certification<br />
from the Health Unit (Department<br />
of Health and Hospitals) of the parish<br />
within which the WMA occurs verifying<br />
that it has an approved sewerage disposal<br />
system on board. Further, that<br />
system shall be utilized by occupants of<br />
the houseboats when on the WMA.<br />
• Firearms may not be kept loaded or<br />
discharged in a camping area unless<br />
otherwise specified.<br />
• Campsites must be cleaned by occupants<br />
prior to leaving and all refuse<br />
placed in designated locations when<br />
provided or carried off by campers.<br />
• Trash must be contained at all times<br />
while camping.<br />
• Burning of trash is prohibited.<br />
• Glass containers and bottles prohibited<br />
on campgrounds.<br />
• Swimming is prohibited within 100<br />
yards of boat launching ramps.<br />
Commercial Activities<br />
Except for licensed activities otherwise<br />
allowed by law, commercial activities are<br />
prohibited without a permit issued by the<br />
Secretary of LDWF.<br />
Commercial Fishing<br />
• Commercial fishing is prohibited yearround<br />
on the following WMAs:<br />
Salvador/Timken, Pointe-aux-Chenes<br />
WMAs, EXCEPT commercial fishing on<br />
Pointe-aux-Chenes is allowed in Cutoff<br />
Canal and Wonder Lake.<br />
• Commercial fishing is prohibited during<br />
open waterfowl seasons on the Grand<br />
Bay, Silver Lake and Lower Sunk Lake on<br />
Richard K. Yancey WMA.<br />
• Permits are required of all commercial<br />
fisherman using the following WMAs:<br />
Grassy Lake, Pomme de Terre and<br />
Spring Bayou WMAs. Non-compliance<br />
with permit regulations will result in<br />
revocation of commercial fishing privileges<br />
for the period the license is issued<br />
and one year thereafter.<br />
• Drag seines (EXCEPT minnow and bait<br />
seines) are prohibited EXCEPT experimental<br />
bait seines allowed on Dewey<br />
Wills WMA north of LA 28 in diversion<br />
canal.<br />
• No commercial fishing activity shall<br />
impede navigation and no unattended<br />
vessels or barges will be allowed.<br />
• Commercial fishing is allowed on Passa-Loutre<br />
and Atchafalaya Delta WMAs.<br />

<strong>Hunting</strong> Guides/Outfitters<br />
No person or group of persons may act as a<br />
hunting guide, outfitter or in any other<br />
capacity for which they are paid or promised<br />
to be paid directly or indirectly by any<br />
other individual or individuals for services<br />
rendered to any other person or persons<br />
hunting on any WMA, regardless of whether<br />
such payment is for guiding, outfitting,<br />
lodging or club memberships.<br />
