Haddonfield Post 38 sponsors 16 high school
students to Boys State and Girls State
This summer, Haddonfield
American Legion Post 38 sponsored
five rising juniors from Haddonfield
Memorial High School and six from
Haddon Heights High School to Boys
State, held at Rider University, in
Lawrenceville, from June 17 through
22. At the same time, two rising juniors
from HMHS and three from HHHS
attended Girls State at Georgian Court
University, in Lakewood.
Post 38 began sponsoring students
from two high schools after Haddon
Heights Post 149 merged with Post 38
several years ago.
The arrangement has resulted in
a definite bonding of the students
from the two high schools, except, of
course, when they meet “on the fields
of friendly strife.”
Boys State and Girls State are very
important parts of the NJ American
Legion’s “Youth Americanism” program,
whose purpose is to develop good
citizens by inspiring the youth of New
Jersey to take an active and intelligent
interest in the operation of our state
and nation and in the privileges and
responsibilities of citizenship.
Attending Boys State (H = Haddonfield): Yao Yu (H), Teo
Lupinetti (H), Jared Bolling, Sam Tichansky (H), Connor
Loescher, Cam Kee, Andrew Gibson, Will Ciechon,
and Matt Barrett. Jake Cedar (H) and Mo Jishi (H) were
involved elsewhere when this photo was taken.
Attending Girls State from Haddon Heights: Lindsey
Cicalese, Raheel Abdul-Jalil, and Molly Barr. From
Haddonfield: Brooke Finniaca and Devi Bass.
