CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE
When Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, was launched in 2008, it provided a
comprehensive economic vision for Bahrain, and a clear direction for a
diversified economy that would reduce the dependence on oil and support
the growth of non-oil industries. In 2018 it is reassuring to note that Bahrain’s
economy continues to be the fastest growing economy in the GCC. Driven by the
non-oil private sector, particularly the tourism sector, along with the strong pipeline
of infrastructure projects, and a record year for foreign direct investment, Bahrain
has its fundamentals already in place. A direct result has been the establishment of
a vibrant SME ecosystem and renewed entrepreneurship.
In this summer issue of bizbahrain, we talk to Sanjeev Paul, newly appointed
Group Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Development Bank. In our exclusive
interview, the veteran banker talks about what BDB offers making it different from
other financial institutions in terms of the nature and the quality of products and
services for Bahraini entrepreneurs.
We also have a very interesting interview with Husain Bin Rajab, Bahrain
Economic Development Board, Executive Director for Manufacturing, Transport &
Logistics on the back of the hugely successful Gateway Gulf Investor Forum, the
biggest showcase of investment opportunities in Middle East, held earlier this year.
He tells us about the impact and what it means for the region.
Even as summer temperatures soar, at bizbahrain it has been business as usual
as the team puts together another great issue. Turn the pages to find a number of
great interviews and articles where professionals from different sectors acquaint us
with new perspectives and business trends.
There’s never an opportunity we miss for a mention and a special thank you to
all our loyal readers for your feedback and appreciation. Please do find us online
on bizbahrain.com for daily news, and follow us on our social media platforms to
stay in touch with everything happening in the market. We have something for you
every single day, and there’s just no better way to stay connected with business in
Bahrain than through us!
On that note, I leave you now. Keep reading and if you have something to tell us,
do send us a message.
Happy reading!
