Introduction
1 Introduction
This section outlines recommendations to simplify the first phase of design. Before designing a system
with a PowerQUICC II Pro device, the designer should be familiar with the available documentation,
software, models, and tools.
1.1 References
Some references listed here may be available only under a nondisclosure agreement (NDA). Contact your
local field applications engineer or sales representative to obtain a copy.
1.2 Device Errata
The device errata document (MPC8313ECE) describes the latest fixes and workarounds for the
PowerQUICC II Pro family of devices. It is recommended to study carefully all these documents before
starting a design with the respective PowerQUICC II Pro device.
1.3 UPM Programming Tool
The UPM programming tool GUI is a user-friendly interface for programming all three
PowerQUICC II Pro UPM machines. The GUI consists of a wave editor, table editor, and report generator.
The user can directly edit the waveform or RAM array. Then the report generator prints out the UPM RAM
array for use in a C program. The UPM programming tool can be found on the MPC8313E product page
at the website listed on the back cover of this document.
