What or who inspired you to become a coach?
Coach James Wookie Gray, my junior college coach.
What do you consider your greatest achievement/
accomplishment and why?
Becoming the head coach of Hinds Community College because
it has been a lifelong dream of mine.
What’s your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
Going hunting back in my hometown with my brothers.
Is there a part of your job that you didn’t anticipate?
The ample amount of paperwork.
If you could give one piece of advice to a young person,
what would it be?
If you want something in life, you must put in the hard work.
What is the most rewarding thing about your job?
Getting the opportunity to influence young men’s lives.
What is the typical day in the life of a college coach?
Waking up early and getting off work late.
What is your favorite Hinds tradition?
Putting the eagle wings on the helmets.
What’s your biggest win as a coach?
Against Itawamba Community College.
What is your favorite childhood sports memory?
Hitting the game-winning shot in an AAU basketball tournament
when I was 16 years old.
Who is Hinds biggest rivalry?
Co-Lin Community College.
What’s one of the most difficult and most rewarding things
about being a public figure?
The most difficult thing would be the complexity of social media
and knowing what boundaries I have as a coach. However, the
most rewarding thing about being a public figure is being a model
of the good oral skills and ethics that my parents, Isabella Wade
and T.J. Williams Sr., instilled in me a long time ago.
Who is your biggest fan?
My daughter, Annastasia Williams, my fiancé, Dianne Walton,
and the rest of my family.
