My intern asked me what <strong>do</strong> I <strong>mean</strong> when I say, Well always as a prior<strong>it</strong>y <strong>do</strong> good work w<strong>it</strong>h<br />

people when they come <strong>to</strong> you for help. She wanted <strong>to</strong> know what <strong><strong>do</strong>es</strong> <strong>it</strong> <strong>mean</strong> <strong>to</strong> “<strong>do</strong> good”.<br />

I’ve been thinking about my answer for a few days. Thought I’d share since there are many,<br />

many interns making their way <strong>to</strong>ward licensing who may have the same question. Just my two<br />

cents -<br />

- Expect that sometimes you really won't <strong>do</strong> "good" at all, learn from <strong>it</strong> and move on, say prayers<br />

for those who have been harmed, even unintentionally and prayer that God is merciful w<strong>it</strong>h you<br />

and w<strong>it</strong>h them, and that there will be blessings and not curses over the work that you <strong>do</strong> for Him.<br />

Use a Shared Decision Making model - <strong>mean</strong>ing provide even a tiny amount of education <strong>to</strong> the<br />

client about their presenting issue, AND about their diagnosed problem<br />
