Primary Times Nottinghamshire Carlton le Willows Academy Carlton le Willows Academy has served the community for over sixty years with each generation of students richly benefitting from the excellent education on offer. You are welcome to visit any time.” Nottingham Academy Rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED, Nottingham Academy develops young people who are able to reason, enquire, create and evaluate and who are prepared for the ever changing world, through outstanding teaching and excellent pastoral support. The Academy has developed an innovative Key Stage 3 (KS3) curriculum designed to support pupils through the transition from primary to secondary education whilst developing academic skills through thematic study. Pupils study English, mathematics and modern foreign languages as well as crosscurricular subject areas of Discover, Create and Perform. These subject areas have been developed to provide pupils with the opportunity to explore subjects in amore coherent way. The KS3 curriculum, now in its third year, has been extremely well received by pupils and parents. Outstanding work has been produced with pupils engaged and focussed on topics, ranging from ‘Survival’ to ‘Myths and Legends’. FOCUS ON EDUCATION Come and see Highfields School atthe ploughing matches this September Highfields School is an independent prep school for girls and boys aged 2 t o 11, based in the historic market town of Newark. With over 14 acres of natural parkland there is an emphasis on outdoor learning. Children from Kindergarten upwards enjoy Forest School sessions as part of the weekly curriculum.
