SAMARITAN’S PURSE – OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD – SHOEBOX<br />

APPEAL<br />

We will be holding workshops again in All Saints’ Church Hall on Wednesdays<br />

<strong>Oct</strong>ober 17 th , 31 st and <strong>Nov</strong>ember 14 th from 2. to 3.30pm. At the workshops we<br />

fill shoeboxes with gifts to send out to needy children around the world. We<br />

need donations of the following items:<br />

Face cloths, bars of soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, hairbrushes, hair bobbles, stationery<br />

items including pencil cases and sharpeners, colouring books for younger children and writing<br />

pads for older children. We do like to include a cuddly toy for every child, and other toys such as<br />

a skipping rope, tennis ball, a yo-yo and anything else which is small and will fit into la box.<br />

Please DO NOT include any war related items, such as toy guns or military figures, any liquids or<br />

lotions hand-made knitted stuffed toys or sharp items, chocolate or food. Leaflets giving details<br />

of what we need will be available from All Saints’ Church, the Church Office, the Newsagents in<br />

the village and the Community Centre.<br />

If you have never been before, please come along with an empty shoebox, some Christmas<br />

wrapping paper and items to be included. Be creative but everything has to fit into a shoebox.<br />

If you like knitting, we give each child a beanie hat and sometimes mittens. <strong>The</strong>re are patterns<br />

available on the website (samaritans-purse.org.uk/cc). We do also need a contribution of £5 per<br />

box for transportation costs.<br />

If you would prefer to make up your own box, please bring it to the church office on or before<br />

<strong>Nov</strong>ember 14 th .Last year 373 boxes were sent to Latvia. I would like to be able to send that<br />

many boxes this year. At the time of writing I do not know to which country they will be sent, but<br />
