The recently rehabilitated
Orangevale Avenue Bridge has
been selected as the American
Public Works Association’s 2018
Public Works Project of the Year
in the historical restoration
and preservation category. The
award recognizes excellence in
management, administration,
design, construction, and
community relations.
Popular Folsom home builder
Woodside Homes donated 28 new
backpacks filled with everything
students need to succeed in the
classroom. Adopt A Family Program
of NorCal, the beneficiary of the
donation, is a nonprofit staffed
by volunteers, so every donation
makes a huge difference for a child

Two local students were recipients of generous $5,000 scholarships from Golden
1 Credit Union. Congrats to El Dorado Hills resident John Rodriguez and Folsom
resident Rachel Chu. Rodriguez, who attends CSU Sacramento and works two
jobs, is entering his senior year studying general management and hopes to
attend the Haas School of Business at Berkeley. Chu is the daughter of immigrants and
works hard to maintain her 4.0 GPA as a junior studying marketing at CSU Sacramento
while also juggling a part-time job...Bob Hunter is the new general manager of Von Housen
Automotive Group (locations in Rocklin, Sacramento, and El Dorado Hills). In addition to
building a team committed to excellence, Hunter has broken many sales records in his 32
years of working in the automotive industry...Blue Shield of California in El Dorado Hills
installed almost 6,500 solar power panels in August. The new additions will provide the
company with about 3.5 million kilowatt-hours annually, a huge leap for the company’s
goal of reaching 30 percent renewable energy...El Dorado Hills production company Mikon
Productions received eight awards at the California State Fair this summer for its county
exhibits. Colusa, El Dorado, Sacramento, and Santa Cruz Counties were awarded silver
medals; and Mendocino and Solano Counties took home gold medals for best visitor
experience and best agricultural display, respectively...Individuals interested in starting
a business are encouraged to attend SproutEDH on October 9 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Aji
Japanese Bistro. In addition to listening to a startup success story from a new mom-tomom
company, attendees will learn more about building a business plan and the process
