Where did you grow up and get your education?
I grew up in Bee Branch on a dairy farm. My parents are the late Willard and Reba Stark.
I graduated from South Side High School and began ASTC (now UCA) in 1962.
What brought you to Faulkner County to open a business/work?
Along with a group of local investors, I helped organize and found First Community Bank
in Conway in 1990. Along with the other board members, I helped facilitate the bank’s
merger with First Security Bank. I have served two years as Chairman of First Community
Bank, and continue to serve on the First Security Bank Advisory Board.
What do you love most about working/living in Faulkner County?
We love living and working in Conway, Faulkner County and Arkansas because
of the people and the ability to do just about anything that you set your mind
to if you work hard enough and have the right people involved.
Do you have hobbies you want to share?
Danny and I love to travel, spend time on the Red River, go out
and eat with friends, and spend lots of time with our family.
Are you involved in any professional organizations?
I have served or am currently serving on a variety of boards and committees in
Conway. They include Chairman of the United Way Campaign and the Conway Area
Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the National Board of the Automotive
Dismantlers and Recyclers Association, along with the state and national
board for the Head Start Programs. I have also served for the Women’s
Foundation of Arkansas, UCA Advisory Committee, Bookcase for Every
Child, Bethlehem House, Boys & Girls Club, Faulkner Co. Council on
Aging, Conway Foundation Board, and many more!
Tell us about your family.
I married my high school sweetheart, Danny Linn, in 1965, and
we made our home in Conway since that time and have raised our
family here. We are so proud of Susan and her husband Ric McCoy
and Christy and her husband Eric Priester. They have given us five
beautiful grandchildren, who we have so many precious memories
and so many funny stories on each of them. Our grandchildren are
Raegan Miller, Andrew Priester and Nic Priester, and Kavanagh
and Rileigh McCoy.
What does the future hold for you here?
I am excited about the future of Faulkner County
and love the roundabouts! Danny and I have
been retirement age for quite awhile now and
we don’t go in to work but are involved as we are
asked to be in the business.
