Mr. Jerry Newton made a motion to approve the change to Policy 706 with the addition of a designee if the sponsor could not attend the state convention. The motion was seconded by Gwen Young. Mr. Bright explained the need to clarify what the National Officers’ club would receive to off set the cost to travel to the National Convention. He also stated that this would make the administrator of the school aware of the travel for Beta. The change to Policy 706 was approved 18 Yes/0 No pending legal approval. Donna Wear made the motion to enter into Executive Session and it was seconded by Sabrina Runyon. Motion carried 18 Yes/0 No. Bobby Hart and Laura Lewis were excused from the Executive Session. Stan Long made the motion to come out of Executive Session. Tim Hager seconded. The motion carried. 18Yes/0 No. Motion made by Troy Hickey to adjust Anna Haynes salary as recommended by Bob Bright. Gwen Young seconded the motion. Motion passed 18 Yes/0 No. Stan Long made the motion to hire two National Sponsors. The motion was seconded by Dr. Runyon. Motion passed 18 Yes/0 No. Mr. Scott made the motion to accept the Employee Handbook as written. Mark Baker seconded the motion. The motion was passed 18 Yes/0 No. Bob Bright referred to the growth of Leadership Summits on page forty-four. Bobby Hart gave an update on the new additions. Alabama/Georgia will add a summit in the Fall, South Carolina will have a one day summit in Spartanburg, and Tennessee will add a Spring summit. The Indiana Summit will not be held any longer. Mr. Bright also informed the Board of name changes for convention competitions to align with a curriculum and academic focus. He also stated that Mexico City is interested in the competitions of convention. China has contacted Beta, as well, interested in adapting our marketing materials to Chinese. Beta would be compensated for the use of the materials and a pilot program could be established in China. Dennis Campbell made the motion to change the fifth grade officer for the 2018-2019 from Fifth Grade Representative to Elementary President and the fourth grade officer for the 2018-2019 from Fourth Grade Representative to Elementary Vice President.
These candidates would give a speech and have a one minute skit during the Campaign Rally. The motion was seconded by Jerry Newton. There was discussion concerning fifth graders serving when they were in the sixth grade. The motion passed 18 Yes/0 No. Mr. Bright stated that for the 2018-2019 Convention year some states will be awarding five trophies at the awards portion of the convention. The number of members attending the state conventions will determine if the top three or the top five will be awarded plaques. A pilot program will be developed to have local Beta Officer Training at some of the Leadership Summits. Infuse 3.0 will be held during the Fall Board meeting on October. The meeting will be at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville. Tennessee. Board members will arrive on October 17 and depart on October 20. There will be group meetings on October 18 and the Board meeting will be October 19. Dennis Campbell requested a copy of the Constitution and Policy be available for the Board at the October meeting. Bob Bright referred to the state posters concerning growth in each of the eighteen convention states. The states of Arkansas, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Texas will have a blitz to promote growth. The Motivosity Program for staff was explained. The cost for that program is $5,000. Mr. Bright stated that the first Alumni Banquet will be held in Savannah, Georgia during the National Convention. Eighty registered to attend the banquet. Stan Long made the motion that the Board accept the Interview Committees recommendations for the two National Sponsors. The motion was seconded by Keith Leger. The motion passed 18 Yes/0 No. The Board will meet at 6:00 PM to meet the new National Sponsors in the Jasper Room. Glenn Barger made the motion for Mr. Dale Hughes and Mr. Herman Williams be made Emeritus Board Members. Clarke Scott seconded the motion. The motion passed 18 Yes/0 No. Donna Wear presented Dr. Rita Carter a Louisville Slugger Bat to thank her for hosting the 2018 National Convention.
