Mr. Jerry Newton made a motion to approve the change to Policy 706 with the<br />
addition of a designee if the sponsor could not attend the state convention. The<br />
motion was seconded by Gwen Young. Mr. Bright explained the need to clarify what<br />
the National Officers’ club would receive to off set the cost to travel to the National<br />
Convention. He also stated that this would make the administrator of the school<br />
aware of the travel for Beta. The change to Policy 706 was approved 18 Yes/0 No<br />
pending legal approval.<br />
Donna Wear made the motion to enter into Executive Session and it was<br />
seconded by Sabrina Runyon. Motion carried 18 Yes/0 No. Bobby Hart and Laura<br />
Lewis were excused from the Executive Session.<br />
Stan Long made the motion to come out of Executive Session. Tim Hager seconded.<br />
The motion carried. 18Yes/0 No.<br />
Motion made by Troy Hickey to adjust Anna Haynes salary as recommended by Bob<br />
Bright. Gwen Young seconded the motion. Motion passed 18 Yes/0 No.<br />
Stan Long made the motion to hire two National Sponsors. The motion was seconded<br />
by Dr. Runyon. Motion passed 18 Yes/0 No.<br />
Mr. Scott made the motion to accept the Employee Handbook as written. Mark Baker<br />
seconded the motion. The motion was passed 18 Yes/0 No.<br />
Bob Bright referred to the growth of Leadership Summits on page forty-four. Bobby<br />
Hart gave an update on the new additions. Alabama/Georgia will add a summit in the<br />
Fall, South Carolina will have a one day summit in Spartanburg, and Tennessee will<br />
add a Spring summit.<br />
The Indiana Summit will not be held any longer.<br />
Mr. Bright also informed the Board of name changes for convention competitions to<br />
align with a curriculum and academic focus.<br />
He also stated that Mexico City is interested in the competitions of convention. China<br />
has contacted Beta, as well, interested in adapting our marketing materials to<br />
Chinese. Beta would be compensated for the use of the materials and a pilot program<br />
could be established in China.<br />
Dennis Campbell made the motion to change the fifth grade officer for the 2018-2019<br />
from Fifth Grade Representative to Elementary President and the fourth grade officer<br />
for the 2018-2019 from Fourth Grade Representative to Elementary Vice President.
