KPDA Corporate Member, Optiven Group have this as<br />
their company mot<strong>to</strong>, ‘We value you.’ It is short, catchy and<br />
meaningful, I envy them for having coined it first before us!<br />
I chose <strong>to</strong> use it in this message <strong>to</strong> you in this issue of <strong>The</strong><br />
Developer’s <strong>Digest</strong> however, because it is important that you<br />
our members know just how important you are <strong>to</strong> us. Without<br />
you, there would be no KPDA.<br />
KPDA WINS, AUGUST <strong>2018</strong><br />
<strong>The</strong> focus of the <strong>July</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>September</strong> <strong>2018</strong> <strong>Issue</strong> of this<br />
newsletter is <strong>to</strong> connect with you dear member, and share with<br />
you the various ways that we offer you value for your annual<br />
financial investment in KPDA, and more so, how you can get<br />
more active as a member.<br />
Inside, you will be able <strong>to</strong> peruse through our achievements<br />
over the recent few months as well as familiarise yourself with<br />
the parts of the engine that make KPDA run; our committees.<br />
I am calling upon you <strong>to</strong> volunteer <strong>to</strong> submit relevant articles<br />
for publishing in our quarterly published newsletter, and also<br />
consider advertising your businesses using this platform.<br />

and wholesome in the real estate space both locally and<br />

<strong>The</strong> Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure,<br />
Housing and Urban<br />
Development, Mr. James<br />
W. Macharia on Friday 24th<br />
August <strong>2018</strong> gazetted the<br />
appointment of members of<br />
the Board of the National<br />
Construction Authority for a<br />
period of 3 years with effect<br />
from 1st <strong>July</strong> <strong>2018</strong>.<br />
Act, 2012 and Community Land Act, 2016. Mr.<br />
Eric Nyadimo, Chairman GIS Chapter, will chair<br />
the 15 member committee that includes 1 KPDA<br />
Member, Mr. David Gatimu. Other nominated<br />
KPDA members include Caroline Kihara of KCB<br />
and Esther Omulele of MMC Africa Law who are<br />
also members of KPDA.<br />

On 16th Oc<strong>to</strong>ber <strong>2018</strong>, we have organized for you a CEO<br />
Breakfast Forum that shall center on how developers can<br />
plan and manage their infrastructure costs, even as they<br />
embark on building large, mixed used developments.<br />

As always, we are not a ‘stuffy’ lot and so <strong>to</strong> help you close the<br />
year on a relaxed note, we will hold our End of Year Koroga<br />
Event on Friday, 23rd November <strong>2018</strong> at the Spice Roots<br />
Restaurant. <strong>The</strong>re are sponsorship opportunities available<br />

KPDA VISITS THE WATER<br />
RESOURCE AUTHORITY<br />
(WRA), 3 rd AUGUST <strong>2018</strong><br />
On Friday, 3 rd August <strong>2018</strong> the KPDA Regula<strong>to</strong>ry<br />
Bodies Working Group were garciously hosted by<br />
the Chief Executive Officer of the Water Resources<br />
Authority, Mr. Mohamed Moulid Shurie. <strong>The</strong> group<br />
was well received and praised for ‘their courage <strong>to</strong><br />
contact the regula<strong>to</strong>ry body despite the somewhat<br />
tumul<strong>to</strong>us relationship that exists between WRA<br />
and private developers.’<br />
During the meeting, KPDA officials emphasized<br />
that ‘KPDA members are keen <strong>to</strong> ensure close<br />
and focused engagement with regula<strong>to</strong>ry<br />
bodies such as WRA who KPDA members<br />
interact with whilst doing business in the<br />
Kenyan real estate sec<strong>to</strong>r.’<br />
