Oct. 4 — Unbound<br />

Productions opens<br />

its annual Wicked Lit<br />

play series adapted from horror novels<br />

and stories at the Mountain View Mausoleum<br />

in Altadena today. The series,<br />

continuing through Nov. 10, is titled “The<br />

Chimes and the Corpse,” and each<br />

night features performances of two<br />

adapted works. One is “The Chimes: A<br />

Goblin Story,” adapted by Jonathan<br />

Josephson from the novella of the same<br />

name by Charles Dickens, directed by<br />

Darin Anthony. “The Chimes” tells the<br />

tale of a conflicted father and the goblins<br />

that bring him to the brink of death<br />

and back again. In the other play, “Teig<br />

O’Kane and the Corpse,” adapted by<br />

Kerry Kazmierowicztrimm from the short<br />

story by Ernest Rhys and directed by<br />

Paul Millet, a brazen young Irishman<br />

refuses to commit to adulthood and<br />

suddenly finds himself magically bound<br />

to an animated corpse. Each evening<br />

features two performances, at 7:30 and<br />

9 p.m. These are walking performances<br />

led by guides inside the mausoleum;<br />

they’re recommended for those ages<br />

13 and older. Ticket prices start at $30.<br />

American Society<br />

of Interior Designers<br />

hosts its annual home tour in Pasadena<br />

and South Pasadena from 10 a.m. to<br />

4 p.m. The semi-guided tour spotlights<br />

three renovated homes and their<br />

gardens, including a Paul R. Williams<br />

Pasadena estate (1925) reimagined<br />

by its owner, designer Jennifer Bevan;<br />

the Merrill W. Baird Southern Colonial<br />

estate in Pasadena (1939), designed<br />

by Christine Santana; and a Santa<br />

Barbara-style ranch house in South<br />

Pasadena (1968) by architect Petrie<br />

Wilson, updated by Rozalynn Woods.<br />

Tickets cost $40. Parking and a shuttle<br />

are included, as is a pop-up market<br />

of wares from local shops, food trucks<br />

BURBANK STREETS<br />

Oct. 20 — The annual Burbank Beer Festival returns to downtown Burbank. Three<br />

tasting stations will be located along San Fernando Boulevard between Magnolia<br />

Boulevard and Angeleno Avenue, offering two craft-beer-tasting sessions from 2 to 3<br />

p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Look for a street fair along the route with live music, vendors and<br />

activities. Guests must be 21 or older to consume alcohol. Tickets cost $40 to $45 for<br />

beer-tastings and include a tasting glass and three-ounce beer samples. Admission<br />

to the street fair is free.<br />

Paz concert series,<br />

curated by Performances à la Carte,<br />

presents Lolly Allen & Friends at 5 p.m. at<br />

the Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist<br />

Church in Pasadena. Vibraphonist Allen<br />

has performed with jazz greats Terry<br />

Gibbs, Bob Mintzer, Rodney Whitaker<br />

and many others at such prestigious<br />

events as the Newport Beach Jazz Party,<br />

the Boston Globe Jazz Festival and<br />

more. Allen and the band are joined<br />

by special guest Rickey Woodard on<br />
