The Loyola senior golfer
will play at Kent State
next season.
If you could travel
anywhere in the
world, where would it
be and why?
If I could travel anywhere
in the world, I
would travel to Switzerland
because I used to live
with a guy from Switzerland.
What’s the best part
about being a Loyola
athlete?
The best part of being
a Loyola athlete is having
the opportunity to go out
and compete for Loyola
Academy and the Loyola
community.
If you could play
another sport, what
would you play and
why?
If I could play another
sport besides golf, I
would play basketball. I
grew up playing basketball
and still continue to
play.
What’s been your
favorite moment at
Loyola?
My favorite moment at
Loyola has to be my first
day of school at Loyola,
which was the start of
junior year, and being
able to see old friends
again.
What’s the hardest
part about golf?
The hardest part about
golf is staying in the present.
The one thing that
I feel like most people
struggle with is getting
caught up in previous
shots, which can lead to
poor decisions later on.
What’s the best part
about playing golf?
The best part about golf
is going out and competing.
Every time you are out
there is a grind, and to me
that’s the best part about
— grinding out good and
bad rounds.
What’s one thing that
people don’t know
about you?
One thing that people
do not know about me is
that Loyola Academy has
been my third school all
throughout high school.

If you could have a
superpower, what
would it be and why?
The one superpower that
I would have would most
likely be the ability to fly.
Being able to fly could
make life a lot easier with
traffic or any type of traveling.
If you had $3 at
Walgreens, what
would you buy?
If I had $3, I would
probably buy some pretzels
and an Arnold Palmer,
and maybe some gum.
What’s one item on
your bucket list?
The one thing on my
bucket list is to go to the
Masters one day.

“These guys, when
they’re flat, they’re not
bad. That’s a good thing.
I don’t like being flat and
want to keep people on
their toes,” she added.
The game didn’t start as
Nykaza had hoped, however.
Despite controlling much
of the play, New Trier (16-
1) didn’t get much going
offensively until Kathryn
McLaughlin put a shot past
GBS goalie Hope Nimz,
giving the hosts a 1-0 lead
with 14 minutes, 10 seconds
to go in the first half.
That goal seemed to ignite
the Trevian offense,
as the team went on to
score two more goals in
the half, one by Faith
Stineman at the 8:03 mark
followed by a goal from
Katherine Groff at the
3:11 mark.
“We were a little flat
the first 10, 15 minutes of
the game,” Nykaza said.
“For us, we were flat. But
we made changes, and we
have a lot of depth, so it’s
not hard for us to make
those changes.
“It means we have a lot
of skill players coming off
of the bench, and I haven’t
had that in a while.”
The Trevians kept their
foot on the pedal in the
second half, as Stineman
notched her second goal
with just under nine minutes
elapsed in the half.
McLaughlin added her
second goal about eight
minutes later, giving the
Trevians a 5-0 lead, which
also triggered a running
clock.
Julianne Ross scored
the final goal for the Trevians,
who, like the Titans,
are preparing for
the playoffs in a couple
weeks.
“We just need to continue
to play the way we’ve
been playing if we want
to make a run in the playoffs,”
Rosenbaum said.
“We’ll get to where we
need to if we defend the
ball, possess the ball and
make good decisions.”
