But we all have to start
somewhere, right?
As college neared, I had
second thoughts for the
first time. Was this really
what I should be doing?
My major ended up
conflicting with my soccer
practice and I certainly
couldn't have that. I was
the new girl on the team,
only having played soccer
for three years. I needed
all the experience I could
get. My major got put on
the back burner. I even
wondered if maybe I
should change it. After all,
what did I want to do with
it? All I had were scraps of
future plans. And I
needed to make a decision
fast!
So . . . what happens when
you thought you knew . . .
but now you aren't sure?
And after that one, I did
another one. I kept
following the rabbit trail of
related articles until I'd
created nearly everything
on the website.
Then I talked to my friend
Google and found more
tutorials.
Twelve-year-old Amanda
kept trekking through the
caverns of the internet,
waking up at six in the
morning every day to go
downstairs and learn more
about this strange creative
program.
Once I decided I wanted to
do graphic design, I
dreamed about the day I
would be in college. I was
done with high school as
soon as I entered it; I was
ready for the college-level
graphic design programs.

for my blog, contests,
newsletter and giveaways.
My early designs were
horrendous.

You're allowed to change
your mind. You're allowed
to wonder. But most
importantly, you're
allowed to pray.
I prayed intensely in
between making pro vs.
con lists (thank you,
Gilmore Girls). I went back
and forth between options.
I deliberated, I worried, I
pulled my hair out.
But God answered in a
very obvious and very
perfect way: I was cut from
the team.
