MIX AND MATCH SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2018 OHBELOVEDONE.COM Everyone has talents of some kind. Your talents could be writing, organizing, swimming, or yodeling. With school in full swing across the country, all of your talents and projects may be getting thrown out the window as school takes precedence. It can be very frustrating, but I’m here to tell you today that you don’t have to give up your talents as soon as school starts up again! Maybe you’re wondering how to apply certain talents in your life for God when school is getting in the way. These are just ideas, but if you take them and mold them to fit your own life, they’ll be more helpful that way. Maybe your talent is organizing. Even in the home, your organizing gift can be used for God’s glory, especially in helping your mom and dad, siblings, and friends. When you come home from school in the afternoon, or finish up school for the day (if you’re homeschooled), you can ask your parents if they have any jobs that could use some organizing help with. It could even be used as a way for a part-time job to help ladies in your neighborhood, and maybe you will have some great opportunities to witness. While you may not realize it, God isn’t always glorified in big ways; rather, He is often glorified in the small ways. Whether it’s baking or sewing, being handy around the house, or yodeling, you can find those interests you may have and search for different ways to use them during the school year. Set aside that time, those couple of hours in a week. It will be worth it as you grow, and as you use your talents to glorify God. As always, seek to do it not in your strength, but in God’s strength alone. Don’t fret if answers don’t show up at your doorstep right away. Keep praying, and ask God to guide you. You’ve got this, girl! If you have a talent of writing, for example, you could write little devotionals, print them out as a booklet, and give them to people at your school, to your family and friends, or to others as a way of witnessing. It’s easy, and would take maybe a couple of hours a week. You could work on the weekend and work for an hour when you come home from school. God isn’t always glorified in big ways; rather, He is often glorified in the small ways. O H B E L O V E D O N E | 2 4
