Downham Grange
State of the art, loving care in Downham Market
Welcome to Downham Grange Care Home, a striking new
purpose-built development in Downham Market.
We provide meaningful person-centred exceptional care for those in
need of residential, respite, nursing or dementia care.
Swaffham Arts
The new season started in September with a splendid
concert by Norwich Baroque of music by Vivaldi,
Handel, Rameau, Pachelbel, and the English composers
Purcell and Mudge. The musicianship of the players
was outstanding, and we look forward to hearing some
of them again on October 21st when Norwich Baroque
Quartet comes to the Assembly Rooms. Our third
Baroque concert, to round off the season, is a return
visit of Tale Dolce Musica, “such sweet music”, whom
we first heard last year. The group consists of soprano,
flute, oboe, bassoon and harpsichord continuo, in a
range of combinations, playing more of this wonderful
baroque music which is especially suited to the size and
acoustics of the Assembly Rooms where the concert
will take place, on Sunday November 18th at 3pm.
Tickets are available in advance, priced at £9 for
members and £12 for non-members, from Ceres
Bookshop 01760722504 and the Green Parrot 01760
724704, and on the door. Everyone is welcome; we look
forward to seeing you!
Boasting 62 en-suite bedrooms, the home has
been finished to the most luxurious standards,
with extra-wide corridors, a variety of large
spacious and comfortable lounges and dining
rooms with kitchenette areas that help to promote
independence and social inclusion.
The home has been designed to meet the needs
of people who require nursing and dementia
care. This exciting new development meets our
Kingsley care ethos, responding to individual
needs and providing the highest standards of care.
Like all Kingsley Healthcare Homes, our care is
focused around each person’s individual needs and
wishes. We value and respect how each person
chooses to spend their day.
Our strong ethos of person-centred care runs
through everything we do. Our staff are all highly
experienced and receive on-going training to make
sure that we deliver only the very best quality care.
We really want to make a difference
to the lives of the people we care for.
With this in mind we have built the
home to the highest specifications,
giving particular consideration
to making the design and layout
suitable for people living with a
dementia.
This new home will enable us to
continue to provide high-quality
surroundings and environment. It
will ensure our staff deliver quality
of service and improve the quality of
life of our residents every day.
The staff at Downham Grange go
that extra mile to make the home
feel comfortable and relaxed. We
like Downham Grange to feel like
a ‘home from home’. We encourage
people to take part in the daily living
activities as well as other ongoing
activities that take place throughout
the day.
“It took me just a few
days to feel at home
because the staff are
so welcoming and
caring”
World Transplant Games Donations
My name is Patricia Mandall and I am raising funds
to cover my expenses associated with attending the
World Transplant Games in Newcastle with any surplus
going towards the Transplant Sport UK who actively
support organ donation. Around 15 years ago I started
to get breathless and was finally diagnosed with
Dilated Cardiomyopathy,
enlarging of the heart, for
which there is no cure. I
would need a transplant.
Eventually, despite being
on medication, my
condition worsened so
that even the simplest
of tasks were a struggle.
I was referred to Royal
Papworth Hospital where
I was prodded and tested
for three days; I was put
on the list but the outlook of a match was small due
to immunity issues. After two and a half years and one
false alarm I had a transplant and my life was given back,
albeit with a strict regime of immunity medication.
I have taken part in three British Transplant Games
and although not the most athletic, I hope I can raise
awareness of organ donation and thank the donor
family who have given me back my life.
