The 29-year-old, who we feature in today’s paper, will fight another Cantabrian Quintin Poole, who is 30kg heavier than him, in a corporate bout. This will be a big night for Horrack at Horncastle Arena where there will be all of the trappings for a name as big a Parker’s in world boxing. A world title hopeful Parker still is, as he attempts to wind his way back into contention after losing to Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte. Senior Sergeant Kelly Larsen said on the whole attendees at the party had behaved well. But the students’ six drinks before 6am tradition, still concerned police, she said. The garden party was organised by the association. “We provide a safe environment for them to sober up if they are intoxicated (when they arrive). Upon entry they will go into a medical tent staffed by ambulance service Horizons,” she said. Once in this area, the ticketholder is not allowed back into the event. The staff will then organise safe transport home for the individual via a friend or family member once they have deemed it safe for them to do so. Lincoln Hospitality acting director Stuart Reilly said increased security was put in place throughout the campus on the day of the party. “Lincoln University takes seriously our duty of care to all of our students and the potential impact the misuse of alcohol can have,” Mr Reilly said. Ms Kay said the students’ association provided dry zones at all of its events and encouraged students to register their pre-parties with the Good One Party Register – a police initiative. The man recorded a breath alcohol reading of 779 mcg/L after he crashed on Volkman Rd in Doyleston. Constable Herb Inwood said the man didn’t sustain injuries and his vehicle wasn’t “too badly” damaged. KIRWEE TAVERN FIRE Overheated fat in a deep fryer caused a small kitchen fire at the Kirwee Tavern on Saturday afternoon. Kirwee chief fire officer Stuart Jones said when the chips went to be cooked it ignited the fire. He said it was smoke and no flames, but caused minor damage. Kirwee, Darfield volunteer brigades were called to the incident at about 4.30pm along with Lincoln to vent the smoke out of the hotel.
