12:30 This presentation will provide an overview of the trends impacting the jewellery market around the<br />
world, with a particular interest in Western Europe and the UK where foreign spend on luxury jewellery<br />
has clearly become equally important as domestic for driving sales. We will more particularly look at<br />
how the influx of affluent tourists is a source of growth in Western Europe, and how brands and<br />
retailers are adapting their offering to gain the favours of this highly sought-after international<br />
clientele.<br />

13:45 from Lab-Grown Diamonds | Skill, Design & the Craft of Jewellery<br />
This talk will provide an overview of the latest natural diamond discoveries from GIA researchers<br />
and elsewhere. It will enable attendees to understand the key features of natural diamonds, and<br />
how they differ to synthetic diamonds and their simulants.<br />
This talk will include: 1) a comparison of inclusions found in synthetic and natural diamonds, 2) how<br />
to use mineral inclusions in natural diamonds to uncover their age, 3) understanding the billion year<br />
growth history of natural diamonds compared to lab-grown diamonds, 4) the different environments<br />
in which natural and synthetic diamonds can form and 5) the super-deep origin of rare super-sized<br />
natural diamonds.<br />

Harriet Kelsall founded her business, Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery, from her kitchen table in 1998.<br />
She has successfully grown her company, now employing 36 people across 3 locations, and it is<br />
internationally celebrated, with many national awards to its name for design, business, ethics and retail.<br />
As part of the Inspire Seminar Programme, Harriet will be telling her story and explaining how her<br />
business broke the mould of traditional high street jewellers through her pioneering approach to<br />
bespoke jewellery design. As someone who successfully turned her passion into her profession,<br />
Harriet will share tips that she has learnt from her own journey, from mentoring creatives and from<br />
interviewing successful creatives from all different disciplines whilst writing her book on starting a<br />
creative business.<br />
