GOVERNMENT
MAYOR RON reports
continued from page 4
In December 2017, the Colorado
Department of Transportation, in partnership with
Arapahoe County, the City of Centennial, Southeast
Public Improvement Metropolitan District, and the
City of Greenwood Village, celebrated the
completion of the Arapahoe Road and I-25
Interchange Reconstruction Project. seven months
ahead-of-schedule and under budget. The completion
of this project is a monumental event for Greenwood
Village and the entire south Denver region.
The project’s $74 million budget including design
and right-of-way acquisition, was primarily funded by
CDOT’s Responsible Acceleration of Maintenance
and Partnerships (RAMP) program and local
matching funds of $4.1 million each from Arapahoe
County, the City of Centennial, the City of
Greenwood Village and the Southeast Public Improvement
Metropolitan District.
Public Outreach/Small Community Greenwood Village won
first place in this category for its 20th Anniversary of Public
Works and Parks Maintenance Day. For the past 20 years, the
Village has hosted this event, during National Public Works
week to promote awareness in the community of Public
Works and Parks Maintenance and recognize the efforts of
employees. The event included hosting students from
Belleview Elementary for a morning full of learning and
interactive activities. To commemorate this year’s event,
employees participated in a “Design a T-Shirt Contest” and
each employee voted on 1 of 6 t-shirt designs created by our
employees. The chosen design was used and a 20th
Anniversary commemorative t-shirt was provided to each
employee.
By creating a meaningful and well received event, we have
been able to maintain a highly successful and educational
event that teaches children about the services of Public Works
and Parks Maintenance, how they do it, and the outcomes it
brings to the Village community.
