Bocas del Toro sólo se convirtió en un destino turístico en la década de 1990,
pero su historia comenzó bien desde el principio del siglo 19.

While Bocas del Toro has become a promient tourist destination since the
1990s, its history dates back to the early 19th century. Mr. Jose Price,
native Bocatoreno, historian and author shares anecdotes of Bocas history
on his facebook page. In collaboration with Mr. Prince, in each edition we
will share amazing stories about Bocas with all our readers.

NESBITT AND HIS RHYTHM MAKERS (3)
La histórica fotografía de “Nesbitt and His Rhythm Makers”, nos hace
reflexionar sobre los variados ritmos que impregnaron a Bocas del Toro
durante su época dorada. En 1921, The Star & Herald reportó el programa
musical ejecutado por “The Excelsior Orchestra” dirigida por A.A Haynes
durante un evento en el Parque Bolivar. La banda ejecutó marchas, valses,
pasillos, pero también un rag de nombre “anytime anyday anywhere”.
En 1934, época más cercana a la banda de “Maga Man Nesbitt”, el mismo
diario reporta las exitosas fiestas de Jazz de “Claude Layne and His Hot
6”, tanto en Bocas Town como en Almirante.
Estos antecedentes, sumados a los instrumentos visibles en la fotografía
donde figura el saxofón tenor, percusión, trompeta, las maracas y
el magnífico banjo, nos hacen presumir de lo ecléctico de su potencial
repertorio. Seguimos investigando y redescubriendo a “Nesbitt and His
Rhythm Makers”.
The historical photography of «Nesbitt and His Rhythm Makers» it makes
us think about the varied paces that they impregnated to Bocas during
its golden epoch. In 1921, The Star and Herald brought(reported) the
musical program executed by «The Excelsior Orchestra» directed by A.A
Haynes during an event in the Park Bolivar. The band executed marches,
waltzes, corridors, but also a rag of name «anytime anyday anywhere»In
1934, nearest epoch to the band of «Enchantress Man Nesbitt», the same
diary brings(reports) the successful holidays(parties) of Jazz of
«Claude Layne and His Hot 6», both in Mouths Town and in Admiral.
These precedents added to the visible instruments in the photography
where the saxophone figures tenor, percussion, trumpet, the maracas and
the magnificent banjo, make us presume of the eclectic of his(her,your)
potential digest. We continue investigating and re-discovering «Nesbitt
and His Rhythm Makers».
