SINGING for HEALTH
The Children’s Society.
NOVEMBER 2018
Did you know that singing is good for your health? Singing releases
endorphins in the brain that make us all feel better about ourselves and
exercises that help us to stand and sing properly loosen up our joints. Vocal
and breathing techniques can help us breathe better and getting out to meet
others and have a laugh while learning something together is an added
bonus.
An 8 week course begins in mid-January 2019 here at St Thomas’ in Market
Rasen. The sessions will take place on Friday afternoons. The cost will be
£12 per person for the whole course (£1.50 per session) which is payable in
full at the start; every penny will be donated to St Thomas’.
If you are NOT a strong or confident singer and can’t read music – this may
well be for you. You just have to want to give it a go, be able to get yourself
to the venue and attend regularly as the activities build up week on week.
The exercises are not difficult, and most of the music is reasonably well
known and easy to sing for most. What happens afterwards is entirely up to
you.
