Heritage charity golf day
Local technician shines
on world stage
Service manager at Hughes Car Sales Adam Bradford with the award he won in the Asian
competition in India. He now goes on to contest the world title.
More than 200 golfers took part in the Heritage charity golf day.
Funds raised at this year’s
Heritage charity golf day
will push total donations past
$800,000 over the event’s 21
year history.
Heritage Bank celebrated
their 2018 charity golf day at
City Golf Club last Friday, December
7, with more than 200
members of the local business
community teeing off for a great
cause.
For the past 21 years, funds
raised from the event have been
distributed via grants to different
community and charity organisations
right around southern
Queensland.
Heritage Bank CEO Peter
Lock said supporting our people
and communities was the
core of Heritage.
“It’s something that we are
very passionate about and that
translates through to the Golf
Day. The funds raised go towards
helping a huge number
of local organisations continue
doing their fantastic work in the
community. Through the Golf
Day, we’re delighted to bring
the business community together
for a great cause and for the
benefit of all.”
Mr Lock said the event continued
to go from strength to
strength over the past two decades.
“We’re always amazed to
see the camaraderie and goodwill
from everyone involved in
making the golf day a success
year after year. Thank you to
our generous sponsors, players
and volunteer golf day committee
for your efforts and continued
support.”
This year’s beneficiaries are
Blush Cancer Care Inc., Compass
Institute, Flexi School,
Highfields North Eastern
Downs Lions Club, Rosies -
Friends on the Street, Share
the Dignity, Sunrise Way, The
Shack Community Centre, The
Heritage will present the
New Year. - Contributed.
A Toowoomba technician will travel back to India
to compete in Mahindra’s Global Tech Test in
February next year after he stunned the competition
at the Asian competition in India three weeks
ago.
Adam Bradford, the service manager at Hughes
Car Sales - Toowoomba Mahindra, 658 Ruthven
Street, was originally pitted against the best Mahindra
mechanics throughout Australia and was
the dux of the competition, earning him the right
to compete against the Asian regional winners in
India.
When he returns, he will test his knowledge and
skills against the top Mahindra mechanics in the
world and, in turn, represent Hughes Car Sales -
Toowoomba Mahindra on the world stage.
It’s an achievement that didn’t surprise his boss
Russell Hughes who speaks highly of Mr Bradford
and the staff who work around him.
Mr Hughes took on the Mahindra franchise
about eight years ago and focuses predominantly
on late model used cars and commercials.
He wants people to know that a low price
doesn’t mean low quality and that the Mahindra
offers pretty much everything you get in a ute over
the $60,000 mark.
“We have seen a dramatic increase in Mahindra
sales in the past two years and that’s because of
the new generation pick-up that’s been available,”
he said.
“Farmers really like the vehicle because of its
reliability, its performance, its low-cost maintenance
and, of course, its low purchase price which
is about $35,000 including all the add-ons.”
“We want to try and get the Australia public out
of the thought process of needing to buy a Toyota
or a Mitsubishi.
“Adam’s award gives Mahindra owners or potential
buyers the confidence of knowing we have
a technician of this calibre and that they can freely
talk to him at any stage.”
The dealership also has a pastoral package and
tradie package, allowing farmers and tradies to get
into a Mahindra suited to their budget.
To take one for a test drive or to find out more
about them, contact Hughes Car Sales - Toowoomba
Waste Collection
and Waste Facilities
Our bins don’t get a public holiday.
Bin collection will continue as normal.
Bins are to be out for service by
6am on the collection day (by 5am
in the Toowoomba CBD and on
Christmas Day).
Waste facilities will be open for all
days except Christmas day when sites
will be closed.
When trucks are about,
keep a look out!
In courts and dead ends, our waste
trucks have to turn around and reverse,
and the drivers can’t see all around
them at the one time. Please be sure
to supervise your children, particularly
on bin collection days. It’s common for
kids to ride bikes, skateboards and play
games in the street. Remember that
our trucks are big and kids are small,
so please keep a safe distance from
our vehicles.
PIK-UP A GREAT DEAL
AT HUGHES CAR SALES
“When the MAHINDRA PIK-UP first hit our shores around a decade ago, it revolutionised the way we looked at a
WORK UTE in Australia. With a very ATTRACTIVE PRICE POINT and IMPRESSIVE CARRYING CAPACITY, the
vehicle soon established itself as a TOUGH, RELIABLE WORKHORSE that wasn’t going to break the bank. Today, the
Pik-Up is back, bringing with it a number of cosmetic and mechanical changes that will appeal to fans of the original
offering and will just as quickly impress buyers new to the model.
Extensive local testing has seen the Pik-Up strenuously put through its paces – and then adapted and modified to help
it thrive in harsh Australian conditions. One of the big pluses is it has retained its LOW COST PRICE TAG and you’ll be
spoilt for choice with two spec levels – the S6 (base model) with fabric seats, air-conditioning, steel wheels and a MP3/
radio and the S10 which comes complete with extras like 16-inch alloys, cruise control, central locking and a reversing
camera, to name just a few. You’ll soon discover there’s A LOT MORE GRUNT as well, with the six-speed manual
gearbox and more powerful engine giving the driver total confidence, no matter how rugged the terrain. The Pik-Up
boasts an UPGRADED 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine with an improved 103kW and 330Nm to call on when
needed. Peak torque is available from 1600rpm to 2800rpm. And with noise control and the added comfort of arm and
head rests, you’ll soon forget it’s A WORK UTE and find it closer to a diesel passenger car instead.
Everything from the vehicle’s exterior to its headlights and badging have been given a sleek new look while inside,
you’ve a got a ROOMY AND SPACIOUS CABIN that offers EXCELLENT VISIBILITY To ensure new owners can tailor
the vehicle to their exact wishes, there’s a host of QUALITY ACCESSORIES available including WINCH COMPATIBLE
STEEL BULLBARS and STAINLESS-STEEL NUDGE BARS snorkels and a wide selection of trays in both colour-coded
or galvanised steel (as well as aluminium). There’s also a SUSPENSION UPGRADE and TOWBAR OPTION.
There are four colours to choose from – classic Arctic White, De-Sat Silver, Napoli Black and the striking Red Rage.
