Santa visited Eclipse Park Vets and posed for photos with pets and their owners on Sunday, December 9. Funds were raised for the RSPCA. Activities included face painting, jumping
castle, dog hydrobaths, raffles and a sausage sizzle.

Opening of Crows Nest information centre
The latest project for the Crows Nest Historical
Society has been the relocation of the old
Queensland Rail grain shed from behind the
Crows Nest Pharmacy to the front of the museum
site on the New England Highway at the corner of
Thallon and Oxford Streets.
The addition of this new building will provide
Crows Nest with an information centre as well as
a reception area for the museum. To complement
the newly renovated building, Queensland Rail
are installing historical information boards on the
site.

Now, with the building fully restored, painted
and in the process of being landscaped with local
native plants, an official opening will take place
on Australia Day, Saturday, January 26, starting at
noon at the conclusion of the Australia Day ceremony
in Centenary Park.
There will be a free sausage sizzle and an afternoon
tea with scones and pikelets for $5 will
be available.
All visitors will be welcome to inspect the exhibits
in the new building and peruse the museum
until 2pm.

MP backs a better Christmas for the homeless
On the first day of the 12 Days
of Christmas Community Giving
Campaign, Member for Toowoomba
North Trevor Watts joined forces
with Base Services to help the
homeless.
Mr Watts spent the morning
preparing and serving meals at
the Basement Soup Kitchen with
founders Nat and Tiffany Spary.
“The Basement Soup Kitchen
serves lunchtime meals each week
day, as well as providing access to
essential services and resources for
those who need it,” Mr Watts said.
“Christmas is a difficult time of
year for many people, particularly
those who don’t have permanent
accommodation and are struggling
to make ends meet.”
“Having a safe place to eat makes
a world of difference to individuals
and families who are homeless or at
risk of homelessness.”
Base Services social worker
Tiffany Spary said Christmas is
often the toughest time of the year,
making many people feel alone or
isolated.
“The Basement Soup Kitchen
hosts a special Christmas Day lunch
where individuals and families who
have nowhere to go and no one
to celebrate with, can join us for
Christmas Day lunch,” Tiff said.
“We try to make sure everyone
we work with knows they’re
appreciated and cared about.
“Each of our Christmas Day
lunch guests will also receive an
individualised Christmas hamper to
make Christmas time a little easier
and happier.”
Members of the community
can still help Base Services make
a difference this Christmas by
donating items.
Christmas hampers could include:
