Initiative for Personal Development<br />

At Apple <strong>International</strong>, high expectations are ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed from<br />

promoted to the Pr<strong>in</strong>cipal's position. For her, students and their<br />

draft<strong>in</strong>g Strategic and Operational Plans, prepar<strong>in</strong>g schools for<br />

Self-Assessment, design<strong>in</strong>g of systems and structures, Institutional<br />

Plann<strong>in</strong>g and Development, Policy Sett<strong>in</strong>g, chalk<strong>in</strong>g out the school<br />

development plan, Handhold<strong>in</strong>g, Recruitment, Staff Development<br />

and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, and us<strong>in</strong>g management tools to enhance the quality<br />

of deliverables <strong>in</strong> the school.<br />

Initiatives taken at the Foundation Stage to promote education<br />

• Assessment<br />

Each child’s on-entry to the sett<strong>in</strong>g has been recorded <strong>in</strong> an<br />

<strong>in</strong>dividual tracker with<strong>in</strong> first few weeks of the sett<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />

period, tak<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>to account contributions from parents. <strong>The</strong><br />

progress tracker should then be reviewed periodically<br />

throughout the year to monitor progress. Based on the<br />

<strong>in</strong>formation gathered for each child, teachers’ will use this<br />

<strong>in</strong>formation to ensure that every child’s learn<strong>in</strong>g and care is<br />

tailored to meet their <strong>in</strong>dividual needs.<br />

• Curriculum<br />

A. FS 2 Curriculum is modified and tailored to cater to the<br />

needs of the children such as;<br />

Ø Accelerated<br />

Offered to the fast learners to enhance their th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g, research,<br />

read<strong>in</strong>g and exploration skills. Mostly trans-discipl<strong>in</strong>ary<br />

lessons will be offered <strong>in</strong> this curriculum.<br />

Ø Extended<br />

Children those who completed the Foundation Stage 1 <strong>in</strong> the<br />

school will be offered this curriculum.<br />

Ø Core<br />

Children those who are new to FS 2 and are not hav<strong>in</strong>g<br />

previous nursery experience will be offered this curriculum to<br />

thoroughly focus on prime areas of development and<br />

<strong>in</strong>troduc<strong>in</strong>g phonics.<br />

Initiatives <strong>in</strong> the Primary<br />

Students from Year 3 to 6 experience curriculum beyond their<br />

text books and the schemes of work. Each Year level is<br />

<strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> a trans-discipl<strong>in</strong>ary term wise project which<br />

encourages critical th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g, th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g out of the box,<br />

<strong>in</strong>novation and enterprise.<br />

Initiatives <strong>in</strong> Secondary<br />

Inter-discipl<strong>in</strong>ary projects such as <strong>in</strong>tegration of Math with<br />

ICT, English with Blogg<strong>in</strong>g and Science with Healthy<br />

Lifestyle are what the students are enjoy<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the Secondary.<br />

Mental Math strategies <strong>in</strong> every day Math Lessons encourage<br />

actual understand<strong>in</strong>g, not just memorization and master<br />

mathematical strategies.<br />
