Unlike many other Montessori schools in the area, Countryside offers education to elementary and middle school students in addition to preschool and kindergarten students. They also provide an allyear option for families seeking year round education. While the name is changing, the Countryside faculty and staff remains committed to providing education based on Montessori principles. They offer a unique real-world experiential and student-centered approach that focuses on developing students beyond academics. “Academic excellence is at the core of everything we do, but we also focus on cultivating the character qualities students need to succeed outside of school. Our mission is to develop students who are respectful, responsible and resourceful. We are focused on helping young people become more than just great students; our goal is exceptional adults,” said Wendy Calise, Head of School. Countryside started its elementary education program in the early seventies and opened a middle school in 2012. The elementary and middle school provide curriculum that accounts for local public school guidelines to ensure successful transitions to high school but more importantly allows individual students to work at a faster pace. “By offering our unique program beyond the early education years, we believe we can have a greater impact in our students lives as they transition through their teen years and into adulthood.
