Since its inception, FHC has been recognized for its innovative and engaging educational experiences as well as its commitment to the moral and spiritual development of its students. This continued commitment to the innovation and the optimization of learning creates an exciting time for our FHC community. With approximately 330 students and a thriving Parish community, the School of Saints Faith, Hope & Charity, a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School, has developed progressively through the years while preserving its deep-rooted traditions of faith and family. With our growing Parent and Tots Program and several Pre-Kindergarten options to include programs for children three years of age, three and four years of age and four years of age, there is an excellent option for all families seeking a learning environment for young children to begin growing in heart, mind and soul. FHC (Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade) offers instructional practices aligning with research based best practice and support models that prepare students for high school and beyond. World language (both French and Spanish), visual arts, performing arts, art history and application, interactive technology, and physical education enhance the core curricular areas of language arts, mathematics, religion, social studies, and science. FHC faculty members collaborate to combine a relevant and engaging curriculum with research based instructional practices while integrating the best of a traditional Catholic education. During the past year, students worked with the following organizations to lend a helping hand: Misericordia, Children of Peace Catholic School, Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos, Boys Hope Girls Hope, Friends of Conor (Lurie Children’s Hospital), Daniel Webster School and the North Shore Senior Center. Our middle school curriculum offers Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Language Arts to students. As of 2018, middle school students can receive the designation of Junior National Honor Society member. FHC is the only school in Winnetka with this prestigious membership club. Middle school students have the opportunity to play a variety of Varsity sports ranging from football, track, golf, basketball, volleyball and cheerleading. An FHC tradition, all eighth grade students take part in the annual play—encompassing drama, music and artistic stage design. FHC’s technology lab includes 3D printers, Arduino Boards, Raspberry Pis, and Makey, Makey. Promethean Boards and both Mac and PC systems remain the standard within classrooms with 1:1 devices for all middle school students and dedicated classroom carts for grades 1st-5th. The Fine Arts program continues to grow and receive increased attention—students of all ages develop their love of music and art. Our music program includes violin, piano, guitar, flute, ukulele, hand bells, choir and drama. Over sixty students take part in small group violin lessons at FHC. Similarly, FHC is pleased to partner with Skyline Studio to offer two productions each year. Our art curriculum is defined by work in a variety of mediums. Eighth grade students have the opportunity to work on a special project with Misericordia residents culminating in an exhibit at the Chicago Art Institute in the Spring.
