Acknowledgements
This document marks the climax of the work and efforts made by
activists of human rights, academics and civil society
representatives, who have lobbied strongly that domestic
violence is seen as the cause and consequence of gender
inequality. In addition, the government has shown willingness
to respond to this phenomenon with concrete and effective
measures in the framework of the commitments that it has taken
for the protection of human rights in Kosovo.
We tried to develop an integrated program, where great
attention is paid to groups excluded as a result of domestic
violence. We tried to include in drafting of this document all
stakeholders who have experience in the fight against domestic
violence, who participated actively in the process followed for
this purpose. For this reason we are grateful to all those who
helped in this way, and contributed with insights, and their
recommendations for drafting of a real and valuable document
for the Kosovo society.
We thank UNDP and WSSI that were ready to provide not only
support in building an open and comprehensive process, but
also valuable suggestions and expertise.
A special thanks goes to all those who participated, even though
not physically in the process, but helped by sharing with us their
experience and expertise in this field through publications,
studies and research conducted on domestic violence. We also
thank the working group, drafter Z.H. and Coordinator M.M.
who over a period of 9 months drafted and submitted the
following document to the government of Kosovo.
