Ra<strong>in</strong> ra<strong>in</strong> go away was the chant for the entire month of September. What started out as Hurricane Florence<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>ued as a deluge of steady ra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g flood<strong>in</strong>g many parts of Horry County and Georgetown Counties. To<br />

offset the ris<strong>in</strong>g waters and keep a throughfare open from Conway to Myrtle Beach the National Guard built<br />

a 4 foot wide 6 foot tall sand wall barricade down the middle of Highway 501 <strong>in</strong> front of our offices block<strong>in</strong>g<br />

us from entry. The waters rose bit the office was spared by a few <strong>in</strong>ches. Many of our members were impacted<br />

by the flood.
