Section demand<br />

remains strong<br />

across Canterbury, said the level of enquiry<br />

and sales indicated that there were plenty of<br />

people still looking to build new homes in<br />

the province.<br />

Melton (Preston Downs and Wilfield),<br />

Rolleston (Falcon Landing), Halswell<br />

(Quarry Gate) and Woodend (Two Roads).<br />

“West Melton is a case in point. We have<br />

been developing in this area since 2010<br />

sections left in our final<br />

stage. Both of these are<br />

the population of the<br />

subdivision stands at<br />

approximately 1000.<br />

The growth of the subdivision reflects<br />

building, we now have a magnificent<br />

new Community and Recreation Centre,<br />

thriving primary school, plus a supermarket<br />

and neighbourhood retail precinct. It really<br />

is a growth community and we are heavily<br />

committed through our sponsorship of the<br />

primary school and rugby club,” he said.<br />

Residential development land in West<br />

Melton is restricted and while there is still<br />

land to be developed at Wilfield in future<br />

years, once those stages are complete that<br />

is the limit of development planned for the<br />

area.<br />

market later this year on Ridgeland Way,<br />

off Kingdowne Drive.”<br />

Wheelans said that the completion of the<br />

Southern Motorway will be well received as<br />

it is expected to sharply reduce the travel<br />

time into Christchurch.<br />
