The secret of eating guilt free<br />
From the moment our children arrive<br />
into the world they are dependant on us<br />
for food. Whether it’s nourishing our own<br />
body to provide breast milk or nourishing<br />
their bodies so they can learn at school.<br />
One of the most challenging elements of<br />
parenthood would be putting food on the<br />
table. From creating the dollars to pay for<br />
food to deciding what meal you are going<br />
to cook that your family will love without<br />
protest - feeding humans can be intense.<br />
As a solo parent I was doing both and it<br />
soon became a reality that quick, costeffective<br />
options that filled tummies for<br />
longer was essential.<br />
When I qualified as a nutritionist<br />
in 2004 people assumed they see a<br />
nutritionist for weight loss. Having a<br />
healthy body weight is<br />
only a small part of good<br />
health and well- being.<br />
Food fuels the brain,<br />
contributes to balancing<br />
our mood, helps carry<br />
oxygen for energy<br />
around the body,<br />
nourishes body cells so<br />
they grow and facilitates<br />
how we learn.<br />
Although I have<br />
helped countless<br />
people improve<br />
their health since I<br />
graduated, my passion<br />
is eating great-tasting<br />
food without guilt.<br />
I have created over<br />
200 family favourite recipes<br />
that are balanced over four seasons.<br />
Every recipe can be adjusted for different<br />
nutritional requirements including being<br />
dairy-free and gluten-free. The cooking<br />
methods needed to be simple and efficient<br />
to accommodate younger children<br />
demanding attention while you’re cooking<br />
dinner and as they get older so they can<br />
help create them with you.<br />
Flying solo myself, I didn’t have many<br />
dollars each week so the<br />
ingredients are everyday<br />
foods you can get at the<br />
supermarket, out of<br />
your pantry, fridge and<br />
garden. Some weeks,<br />
all I had was $70 for<br />
groceries (that included<br />
non-perishables)<br />
The key ingredient<br />
you need in every<br />
meal is satisfaction.<br />
When the body and<br />
mind are satisfied, it<br />
is easier to cope with<br />
a busy lifestyle. Being<br />
healthy has become<br />
so over- complicated<br />
and diet trends have<br />
become like fashion and are<br />
ever-changing. Dieting also can create a lot<br />
of guilt when we do eat the foods we love.<br />
Dieting is also not demonstrating a healthy<br />
relationship with food for the younger<br />
generation.<br />
