About Us
In 1988, when Ellen and Eric Gil opened a 450-square-foot sock
boutique in Santa Cruz, California, they never imagined how much
their little company would grow.
Two decades later, the founders of Santa Cruz’s Sockshop and Shoe
Company responded to a striking need within the industry for an
independent company to create bold graphic designs and topquality
footwear.
The Gils partnered with friend Cassandra Aaron in 2009 to create
Socksmith, an artisan brand with a West Coast point of view.
Based in San Francisco, Cassandra has been a retail and wholesale
representative for more than 25 years, primarily in the sock industry.
She is the chief sales executive for Socksmith and represents the
company on the road.
