The California Art Club 108th Annual<br />

Gold Medal Juried Exhibition, a display of<br />

contemporary-traditional fine art, features<br />

some 300 works, ranging from landscapes and<br />

seascapes to figurative works and still life. All pay<br />

homage to the California Impressionist movement,<br />

inspired by the club’s founding artists. The<br />

exhibition opened March 3 at the former location<br />

of the Pasadena Museum of California Art, 490<br />

closing Sunday. The play, by Carlo Goldini,<br />

known as “The Italian Molière,” is the farcical tale<br />

of Truffaldino, who takes on two masters in 1750<br />

Based on the novel by E.L. Doctorow, the<br />

musical tells the story of fictional families at<br />

American Dream. The fictional characters, pianist<br />

Coalhouse Walker, Jr., his child’s mother, Sarah,<br />

who has become part of a respected family, and<br />

Tateh, a Latvian immigrant, are eventually joined<br />

by various, real-life historical figures, including<br />

Booker T. Washington, J.P. Morgan, Henry Ford,<br />

Stanford White and others. David Lee directs. It<br />
