CHING OUT
SCHOOLS
HOLLENTOWN IS A SMALL, rural village. Becky and have pastored here for over ten years, and it
has been great to reconnect with my home area in many ways.
One of the main ways we connect with the community is the relationship we have made with our school
nurse. We have given supplies (band aids, ointment cream, thermometers, etc.), for which she is very
appreciative. In one conversation, we asked her to let us know of anything else we could help with. From
that meeting, Becky took on, as a personal project, supplying feminine hygiene products and boy’s
deodorant.
We have also been able to develop a relationship with the music department at the school. The products we received through Rural
Compassion allowed us to send boxes of snacks for over a hundred music students on a trip to Florida. The teachers and chaperones
were so appreciative of the contribution.
Another outcome of this relationship was being asked to come as a chaplain to minister to the drama students when a tragedy occurred
among the group. We are blessed to have progressing relationships with many throughout our school district!
