said Renée Daniell, therapist and owner of
Prana Massage Therapy.
Based in Sumner, Renée has lived in
the community for 20 years where she
has been practising holistic massage for
the past four years. Located in a private,
tranquil garden setting her studio is
tastefully arranged, and has a soothingly
relaxing atmosphere.
Prior to this, the mother of three lived
in Keri Keri and studied in Christchurch.
Her credentials include a Diploma in
Aromatherapy, a level 5 Certificate of
Deep Tissue and Remedial Massage
Techniques, and a NASDA Diploma in
Performance Art (Singing and Dramatic).
Her background also includes six years
of classical singing and ballet, which gave
her some great knowledge of breathing
techniques, posture and movement.
“I’ve accumulated a thorough body
awareness through years of singing, dance
and movement training,” said Renée.
“This includes breathing techniques for
singing and voice, postural awareness
through Tai chi, Iyengar Yoga and the
Alexander Technique. My training at
the College of Natural Medicine also
included Aromatherapy skills, Reflexology,
body awareness, breathing and postural
analysis.”
‘Prana Massage Therapy’ offers holistic
massage therapy that aims to treat the
whole person rather than a damaged part
and relaxation techniques that can be
combined with deep-tissue techniques.
“The nervous system responds to an
induced state of relaxation by entering the
‘resting and digesting’ phase and releasing
endogenous endorphins, thus allowing the
body’s self-healing mechanisms to work
for us.”
