Wilmette’s Bakers Square
Restaurant abruptly closes
A Bakers Square Restaurant
& Bakery location
in Wilmette has closed its
doors.
Located at 200 Skokie
Blvd., the casual dining
restaurant chain known for
its pies, never opened for
business March 25.
A person answering the
phone at the Wilmette location
told The Beacon
that the restaurant owners
“couldn’t reach a lease
agreement” and this led to
the abrupt closure. Both
the Google and Facebook
listings for the Wilmette
location state the restaurant
is “permanently
closed.”
A source told The Beacon
that employees were
not given any notice about
the closure and the restaurant
was open for breakfast,
lunch and dinner Sunday,
March 24.
The chain is owned by
American Ribbon Holdings
and as of January
2019 had 39 locations
across the United States.
A call to Bakers Square’s
corporate headquarters
had not been returned as of
press time for this story.
Later in the week, workers
began removing all
signage from the building.
Following the closing,
the closest Bakers Square
Restaurant to the North
Shore is located at 8584
W. Dempster St. in Niles.

Man charged with sexual
assault, abuse of female
minor in Lake Forest
Shawheen Sariri, 23, of
Lake Villa, was charged
with predatory criminal
sexual assault of a child
under the age of 13, criminal
sexual assault and aggravated
criminal sexual
abuse on March 20, in
Lake Forest, according to
a police report from the
Lake Forest Police Department.
According to the report,
Lake Forest Police detectives
began an investigation
after being contacted
by DCFS regarding a reported
sexual assault that
took place in Lake Forest
involving a female minor.
Lake Forest Police detectives,
DCFS, Lake County
Child Advocacy Center
and the Lake County
State’s Attorney conducted
the investigation and identified
Sariri as the suspect.
Rob Copeland, Lake
Forest deputy chief, said
there is only one suspect
and one victim.
An arrest warrant was
issued following numerous
interviews and a case
review by the Lake County
State’s Attorney’s Office.
Per the Lake County
State’s Attorney’s Office,
Sariri is facing six counts
of charges:
• Predatory criminal
sexual assault of a victim
under the age of 13
• Predatory criminal
sexual assault of a victim
under the age of 13
• Criminal sexual assault
of a victim under the age
of 18
• Aggravated criminal
sexual abuse of a victim
under the age of 18
• Aggravated criminal
sexual abuse of a victim
under the age of 18
• Aggravated criminal
sexual abuse of a victim
under the age of 18

Shermer Road Bridge
Project
Beginning this week,
the Village’s contractor
will resume work on the
Shermer Road Bridge.
The remaining work includes
installing the brick
sidewalk and parapet
walls and is expected to
be complete by April 30.
This work will require
daily lane closures but
Shermer Road will remain
open to traffic throughout
