Spencer, 40, of Chicago, was charged with child endangerment at 2:46 p.m. on March 23 in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard. The subject left a toddler alone in a vehicle for 40 minutes. The complainant complied with the request but subsequently realized the email was fraudulent. • Unknown person(s) used the personal information of a resident of the 2200 block of Cedar Court to purchase a cellular phone and open a Verizon Wireless account. March 25 • A complainant in the 1500 block of Spruce Street reported unknown person(s) attempted to purchase $1,700 worth of merchandise at Kroger in Houston, Texas, with their credit card. March 24 • JT Hampton, 23, of Chicago, was charged on an active warrant for CDPT at 1:16 a.m. in the 600 block of Waukegan Road. Hampton, a passenger on a traffic stop, was discovered to have an active warrant for CDTP and also had an active unserved OOP. March 22 • A resident of the 2200 block of Techny Road reported they purchased an item from an online website. When they received the purchased item, it was not as described. The complainant has filed a dispute with their credit card company. • A resident of the 600 block of Dundee was notified that a vehicle had been rented using their information. The resident did not authorize anyone to use their information. • Unknown subject(s) took a cell phone from an unlocked vehicle in the 1900 block of Cherry Lane at 1:54 p.m. • Unknown subject(s) broke the driver’s door window of a vehicle parked in the 1700 block of Larkdale during the overnight hours. NB resident fatally struck by vehicle Martin Carlino, Editor Leona Kruse, 93, of Northbrook, was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday, March 25, in the 2200 block of Brentwood Road, according to official records from the Cook Co unty Medical Examiner’s Office. Northbrook Deputy Police Chief Dan Strickland told The Tower the incident was a car versus pedestrian accident that occurred in “the morning hours.” Records from the medical examiner’s office list Kruse’s manner of death as an accident and her cause of death as multiple injuries due to being struck by a vehicle. Strickland said the driver did not flee the scene and the department’s investigation is ongoing. Police department announces St. Patrick’s Day enforcement results Submitted by the Northbrook Police Department The Northbrook Police Department announced it issued 28 seat belt citations, eight speeding citations, and nine other various citations during the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement period. “Because of the efforts by our community leaders to spread the word about alcohol and drug-impaired driving, the streets were safer during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday,” Detective Chris Lacina said. “We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason — to save lives.” The Northbrook Police Department joined forces with state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement campaign. The law enforcement campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
northbrooktower.com news the northbrook tower | April 4, 2019 | 7 Measles case confirmed in Cook County; patient visited North Shore towns Martin Carlino, Editor Cook County public health officials are reporting a confirmed case of measles in a north suburban resident, according to a press release from the Cook County Department of Public Health published on Wednesday, March 27. Per the release, the Cook County resident has a recent travel history to another country with ongoing measles transmission. The case was confirmed on March 26, and is no longer infectious, according to public health officials. The release states the patient may have exposed others before they realized they were sick.
