New twist added to
annual NSYMCA Strong
Kids fundraiser
The North Suburban
YMCA’s annual Ken and
Alta Thiel Strong Kids
Scholarship Fundraiser,
held from 6:30-11:30
p.m. Friday, April 12 at
the Chevy Chase Country
Club — will feature a few
surprises.
This year, to commemorate
the Y’s 50th Anniversary
Celebration, attendees
will experience a new twist
to the popular event, featuring
a new venue with casino
games, live entertainment,
an all-night dining
experience, celebrity appearances
and many other
surprises.
This year the NSYMCA
is pleased to announce that
Northbrook radio personality,
real estate investor and
mortgage professional, David
Hochberg along with
his wife Elyse will be the
2019 Strong Kids Event
Chairs.
The Y is also planning to
“Double its Bet” by doubling
the annual event goal
of $250,000 in matching
funds. “We’re hopeful the
community will recognize
the importance of fortifying
the Y’s capacity to
deliver the high quality of
programming it has come
to expect at our Y,” said
Howard Schultz, President
and CEO of the NSYMCA.
For more than 13 years,
the Ken & Alta Thiel Strong
Kids Scholarship Fund has
provided critical funding
that enables the Y to keep
its life-changing programs
and services available to
all, regardless of their ability
to pay. In the last twelve
years, the Strong Kids Fund
has provided over $3M to
assist over 25,000 children,
adults and seniors in the
Y’s 15 town service area.
